Prelude vs Type R Civic
Hi all
I have a 1997 2.2 SIR vtec jap import prelude and my mate has a 1997 1.6 Type R Jap import civic. Both are bog standard except for the exhaust systems from the cat back (Which are identical systems).
Were thinking of heading off at the weekend to do a 1/4 of a mile. My question is - Who do you think is gonna win ?
Ive driven his car a couple of times and it seems to be faster (But then again when your driving someone elses car it always seems faster) and the other thing is his car doesnt hit the rev limiter until around 10,000 revs where as mine hits it around 9,000.
Have any of you been in a simular battle ? What was the outcome ?

10,000 rpm on an H22A? is this the special jet fuel propelled H22A?

I would be like everyone else and hop on the bandwagon and start flaming but that would be a useless post. My money would be the Prelude with equal drivers.

Thank you for your simple answer to a simple question.

I say type r... I say it will beat the prelude by at least 3-4 cars hands down! I know a GSR can take preludes with about 2 cars. and I have a civic with an ITR motor and preludes are no match. Sorry to say but thats the truth

93-96 Honda Prelude VTECs and 97-01 Honda Prelude Type SH's and base's beat 94-01 Acura Inetgra GSRs.
Don't belive me check magazines.

OH YEAH!?!?!?!?!?!? my 91 integra RS used to whomp on GSR's/ludes of all shapes n sizes
and if you check the mags, i think you'll find that the GSR n Lude run the SAME 1/4 e.t. in completely stock trim (15.7 i believe)....so this comes down to driver, go handle the ****

sorry man, but I think that whatever magazine you read is pretty wrong. Yeah the old school prelude depending on the driver can take a GSR, but SH I highly doubt that unless the driver of a GSR REALLy sucks. Top end yeah, a prelude can beat GSr's but Not of launch.

compare the 99 Honda Prelude vs the 99 Integra GSR. the Prelude beats it from 0-60 MPH, 0-100 MPH and 0-120 MPH not by much but still beats it.
Ive beaten a few GSR's my self in my stock Type SH. With equal drivers the Prelude takes it.
