Default Theft....Anyone thought of a tracking device?

Hello I just saw the other topic about car theft. And I thought to myself, and why not gett a trackign device.

Im in Electronics Eng, this is not had hard to do has some people might think. I think it is better to spend some $$$ and have a change to track your car then to see it fly away. Think about it.

i think a tracking device would be a good idea.
not one like Lojack that only beeps as you get closer, but a real GPS system that you could really track.
I had Lojack on my Type R and it didnt help one bit........

OMFG a tracking device? That is genious! Why haven't any of us thought about it? We should name it LoJack, or give it the name of that other GPS system they have. You should get this idea patented before someone steals it!

They already have a real GPS system out... I can't remember the name of it though, I'm sure it can be easily found on google.

Lojack, Boomerang(i think thats the name), and the new one that was posted all incorporate tracking devices. Thats kinda the whole point of those systems.

If a thief is smart enough he could find it and disable it, or put it on another vehicle for you to chase. What I thought about developing was a capacitive discharge system, that would have an electrode installed in the drivers seat. Disable it before you start it or get fried.

that is why you dont go around town telling evrybody you have gps tracking

if somebody is going to steel a integra or civic do you think they would expect you to have gps tracking??? hell no but it will be a big suprise when you show up at their house with some cops 10 minutes after they pull in to their garage

p.s. dont tell anybody obviousley (i wont)

No way, if you want to hide it there are some places that would take forever to find. The poster has a good idea just as I have said in other threads, a little bit of electronic knowledge can go a long way. Lets face it, this will only help if you track the car within a couple hours.

it would be a good idea to have a tracker but by the time you found the car it would still be stripped to ****, but its a good thought maybe someone could invent one just for our R's and make bank off the idea.... someone do it!!!!!

They could find depending on high tech they are. If it transmits a signal it would only take seconds to find once you had the freq.

I've got the boomerang v2. the previous owner had the R jacked and the cops showed up just as they were starting to chop it. The V2 is the intelliigent boomerand, it knows that ur car has been stolen before u do and notifies the fine pple of boomerang who notify the cops and can give them a location within 20 m or somen like that. Anyways the owner got her car back and the crooks got a court date and the oem itr strut.

the Boomerand V2 retails for about a grand plus a monthly monitoring fee and is law for expensive cars in Montreal, Canada. They install it in a different location everytime and has battery backup in case the car battery is cut.

So this doesn't mean ur car won't get stolen, but it stops amateurs and professional tend not to bother with cars that cost 30 grand.

So its a good thing to have b/c many many punk kids would give their left nut to have a b18c5 plus all the other type r goodies.

I've had my R for a yr and no problems in a higher risk area b/c I don't live it outside of clubs in downtown Toronto.

So get urself a Boomerang and becareful where u leave it. Remember if someone really wants ur Type R they will get it. But if u do the 2 things I mentioned u should be good.

ITR 2K...sorry to say this but grow up. If your such a superior being answering this post just lowered your IQ a bit...

Then to the ones that are here to find a good solution for theft problems.

Well to tell the truth, I might not be a genius, but If Im not wrong Boomerang is a payed service, that means you'll have to pay a monthly fee....

I dont know if you are a ware but there are some free GPS satelites. With a good alarme set, and a powerfull GPS receiver and transmiter, you can in fact track your car, and not just hear a bip....stronger when you get closer....

And there is no need of monthly fees....

Anyone heard of an alram like this?

clifford offers a tracking device where you can disable (shut off) the car whenever you want. however, i believe there is a monthly fee. also, it's only applicable to certain alarms if not only one offered by clifford.
btw, just for the sake of debating, alarms don't mean ****. it's layering your security. professionals know the way around EVERYTHING. for instance, if you have lojack, professionals can steal the car, leave it parked someone to see if there is a tracking device, then wait until the police come to recover. they now know you have a tracking device so they go and steel it from the towing yard and rip out the tracking device. ******* THIEVES.

i'd imagine so because there are only a few companies that make alarms. for instance, clifford and black widow are the same company essentially.

Wah, wah, wah... Cry me a ******* river you big baby. Don't talk to me about IQ, when you're the dumbass coming on this board talking about tracking devices like you're the first one to ever think about it, when there are already tons of them on the market. Apparently someone doesn't know how to take sarcasm. Also, you're right, I am a superior being, you can call me your ******* God~! Don't come on here thinking because you got some positive feedbacks on your post, that you all of a sudden have the rights to tell me off. I was even flaming you, it was sarcasm, but ofcourse someone with your IQ level will never be able to comprehend that. If you can't take sarcasm, or flames, then you have a lot to learn about this board. Everyone gets flamed, take it like a man.

GPS Tracking system with no monthly monitoring fees
Can remotely shut the vehicle off with your cell phone, will be notifed if towed or car broken into.

Track it down w/ gps tracking software, accurate up to 20 feet.

SpoonR617 Can vouch for this system along with other members that saw this unit in person during the Bay Area Meet recently.

We have a similar system over here simply called "Tracker". Insurance companies will halve your insurance premium if you have one fitted. It costs $800 approx and they take your complete dash out to fit it...which would be a pain when it comes to selling the car and you want to take it to the next car. I know a guy with a STi RA scooby that had his car stolen, police had the car back on his drive way 2 hours later with a tank of gas it didnt have before it was stolen!!!
