well i would assume that you need a radio/cd/tape with AUX imput for your ipod .. hooking it up directly will possibly damage your ipod or speekers and create alot of unessesary wire splicing..
i would looke for something like CD to radio addapter , wich you will hook up to the ipod and then tune your radio to the set frquincey that the sender say's in its manual.

Alpine has just come out with a radio that has a direct connection to Ipods. I forget the model number, but look them up and you will find it.
don't go with the radio tuner...its horrible. but u're not gonna be able to if u dont have an AUX input. just use earphones...that way you won't have to listen to that annoying ambulance that always passes by.

Check this out. Not only can you hook up that IPOD to the radio, you can control it from the radio like a CD changer.

BTW, for those of you who don't know, there are now available interfaces that hook up to the radio through the CD changer connector that give you true RCA inputs .

Like I mentioned in some other threads I got the Neo Ion and put it in my ranger. It hooks to your stock deck through the dc changer point so you get cd quality like sound. Someone really should consider making a sticky about iPod + car and put it in the audio section. Oh here is their web site – http://www.mp3yourcar.com

that ONLY for OEM stereo that comes with a PORT for a OEM cd changer, most of the six gen have this(SE EX, AV6 ex, all have the double din radio which comes with a cd changer)
LX/dx cd attachment do not have the interface for cd changer.
tape adpator sucks and so do FM transmitterr(itrip, monster, belkin, etc)
go hit up ipodlounge, they have tons of link for retailer that sells the CD changer connector cable when gives you a direct connection to your cd player
