Default TRX250R is coming to life

Here are some pics of my project!
'86 frame modified to use an '88-'89 swingarm - recently painted Mitsubishi Blue pearl
'04 TRX450R shocks
Krank It - CT sleeved '86 motor that has many bores left with Nationals P&P
CT midrange pipe
ASR pro star plus +2+1 A-Arms w/ pro race tie rods
Lonestar Stem
Allloy Boltz stainless bolt kit
39mm Air Stryker

Not in the pics:
Lonestar swingarm
Lonestar axcalibur axle
AC pro pegs
AC stadium front bumper
White '86 plastic that has been cleaned but is waiting for the RENEW to arrive from the states

Probably will not be on the road anytime soon since I am having some fitment issues with the 450R rear shock and the goober that added new motor mounts didn't know what he was doing. I need to modify the headstay mount and maybe do some modifying to the lower motor mount.

I am using a CT midrange pipe that is matched to the port and polish. Right now I am trying to decide if I should punch the jug out to 300 or not since it has a CT310 sleeve installed.

No! It has a CT racing 310 jug that is ported by Krank-It racing. I also stock sleeve backup jug that is ported by Krank It. The CT310 jug is a tad under 260cc right now.

good luck with the krank-it stuff, they were ok back in the day but will never touch a custis sparks set up. with the 450R shocks, be sure to back off on the preload on the shocks, will help out on ride heigth and set up. i dont think the rear will work but if your interested i might have a rear shock or 3 but they would need to be rebuilt. looking good so far.

Curtis Sparks lost me as Customer a couple years back because his EXTREMELY SHITTY customer service. The jug is actually a CT unit that is polished by Krank-it. The port is CT with a bit of Krank it "fine tuning". This is a short stroke motor but it came with a new Hot Rods long rod, crank and spacer as extra parts.

The 450r rear shock is definitely not going to work without some serious modifications. I am watching a couple revalved OEM rear shocks on Ebay at the moment. I will look you up if I do not find a good one. I'm also changing back to an '88-'89 frame because the person who modified this frame was an idiot.

its going to be hard to get respect for the 250r on here since a lot fo people dont have a clue about it. curtis has gotten rid of some of the slow people that was working for him i believe. i know he had some new guys withh im at Loretta Lynns finals this year. but you do get what you pay for with him, he has been builder of the year for several years and has a great track record. i have heard that Scott at Krank-it sued racer productions back in 96 i believe about the TT track at the loretta lynns ranch. i really havent seen any krank it stuff since then.

on the 86 frame, how did they mod it? i have 2 R's, an 86 and 87 both have the newer aftermarket set up and im the one who modded my frames. one i had to rebuild all the motor mounts b/c i riped the motor almost sideways in the frame. what did they do? all they should have done is make a small bracket just like the bottom center mounts, but put them at the lower rear motor mount and weld to the frame. its pretty easy. also if your building an 86-87 frame make a brace to tie the bottom of the subframe to the very bottom of the frame because the frame will brake between the footpeg bolts.

They added an extra mount to the frame for the lower rear mount and the upper rear mount is left open. They also replaced the center lower mount with thicker material. When they did this they should have bolted all of the remaining mounts to the motor before making the new rear lower mount but since they did not do this I can only get the front mount and rear lower mount to matchup correctly. The headstay mount is off by 4mm back and 3mm up while the center mount is way off!! I will cure the headstay problem by making a new one from some leftover stainless and I will try to notch the center lower mount.

I used a Curtis Sparks dual plug head on by ATC200X flat tracker back in the day (mid 80's) so I would love to find one for the 200X that I own right now. I just do not want to deal with Curtis because he has a serious case of "Larry from Endyne" syndrome. The 200X is getting rebuilt with a Powroll 218cc kit and other goodies.

My Krank it parts are not new. I got the frame, complete motor and back jug with parts from a guy who was sponsored by them 4 or 5 years ago. He's a black dude named George Smith who was doing pretty good on the pro-circuit until he got shipped to Japan. George just got a '05 YZF450 because he didn't like the reviews he read about the TRX450R's powerband and overall performance. If I get the '88 frame I will probably make a frankenstein TRX600R if I can fiind a good donor XR600 motor

the reviews of the 450r are wrong. i got one of the 1st in alabama and i really love it. i finally installed a HMF full exhaust last week and i cant believe how much its improved. but with it bone stock and the HRC kit installed i can usually get out of the hole with a piped, cam modded, jetted yfz. i actually pulled 1/2 the start on a 460yfz the other weekend, but by 1/2 track he cought me and we were side by side going into the turn. i pretty much left mine stock to get back use to riding and get use to a 4 stroke.

back to the frame, you dont need a headstay, i raced without one since 1992. your right though, they should have had all the mounts botled to the motor as they placed it into the frame.

ive heard curtis can be a pain, but his products are top notch, also Mark baldwin is a good mech, but this year he is working with curtis.

Damn.. I just noticed you are from B'ham! My sisters live in Hoover and I grew up in T-town watching Bear Bryant coaching sessions and eating the orginal Dreamland ribs!

I want to use the headstay since the lower center mount has been deemed useless and only one of the rear mounts is being used. I have read a lot of good reviews about the 450R but George seems to be easily swayed but glamour. He originally purchased a 330PV and Laegers frame but had to make a change after encountering shipping issues. He also got the YZF450 from a Japanese shot that can get them with ease. A stock TRX450R is about $10k over here.

I might get the 650R after it is released next year but for now I will stick with my little smoke machine . We are some 2 stroke owning fools over here. In my stop alone we have (3) RMX250's, (1) RM125, (1)YZ125, (1)'05 Blaster, and (1)TRX250R. These are used by 4 people and then there's the trusty old ATC200X.

I also might need your help getting some small parts for the 250R that can not be bought in Japan. If you have parts other than the shocks for sale PM me a list so I can check it out.

i dont even know what i still have left over. i got my 1st 250r in the winter of 92, and ive had it ever since, along with another one ibuild for a friend. so if i put everything togeatehr i would ahve 2 complete R's, but blowing 2 motors to hell has that tore down. ive still got my 310 running and that thing is fast. once i get my 450r set up i am prob going to tear my 250r down and rebuild it and try to get a laegers frame for it. i love racing/riding and the look of a 250r but it wont ahng out of the track. its so much easier to ride a 4 stroke and so much much easier to come out of corners. with my R i would just roast the rears off turns esp on a good TT track. i have so many odd and end parts for a 250r i cant remember what iev got. im trying to sell some of ebay to help fund my 450. i havet started on it yet b/c likei said i want to get back use to riding, plus as soon as a friends 450r is togeater with all his walsh stuff we are doing a compairson for atvscene.com i believe. i will look around and see what ive got, but its easier if you email me what you need.

I am sooooo close to riding this damn thing. Alba Action have to be the slowest shipping online store I have ever visited. I ordered parts from them on November 26 and the **** has yet to arrive. The parts are all small items that are essential and can not be found easily in Japan.
