they've been working on this and other variations for a while now. its an expensive mess if bags accidentally deploy.

this is a good idea. it's going to be hard to get it to be fool proof though. the problem is with riding motorcycles, is that they are not safe. there's nothing that can really be done for you if you go down on the street at 60 + mph. you're screwed.

yup, its been in development for years, but i doubt its very close to porduction. in the whole "hit a car" scenario it seems like you would have to have the sensors in the bike to determine when to deploy, if they were in the jacket an accelerometer wouldnt be able to tell of you were on the bike or not heh

cool idea, but i dont want to be the guy buing the first production run lol

i didn't read the article, but i heard it works by having a line hooked to the keys or something and in the case that you are thrown from the bike, the line is pulled and it deploys. that would suck if you forget about it and get off the bike in a hurry

Im sure it'll first be used by racers before it goes to consumers.

This is from Dainese current website

http://www.dainese.com/eng/d-air.asp

BTW, I'm looking to buy a Dainese Bora jacket in all black for $750 from a local Dainese dealer. Is that a decent price? I'm not looking for like the best price but just a fair price will be fine. Don't wanna feel like I'm gettin ripped off.

You can get it for around $680 plus maybe $40 for shipping from http://www.dainese.be

The guy who handles the online orders is named Frans and he is very good to his customers. I'm not 100% sure about the prices I listed though so you might want to shoot him an e-mail or give him a call. There in Belgium but I got my jacket in 3 days

Edit: Was the $750 quoted from the D-store in CA? If so maybe they will price match because both stores are licensed dainese dealers/stores.

Well, the D-Store in Costa Mesa doesn't have much in stock. I got the price from a shop in Anaheim/Fullerton area. I guess they're a chain store 'cause I had them transfer in my size. It should be in tomorrow for me to try on. They also have a 10% off their first purchase if I open up credit with them.
