Does the hood vents like the cwest jdm hood, and mugen hood, leak water into the engine bay, when it
Hi , i need help from those with the jdm vented hoods... when your car is outside in the rain, does alot of water get into the engine bay.. i believe there is a mesh covering in the vents, and can filter out big debirs..but i doubt it can prevent water leakage.. Also does your engine bay get really dirty from alot of driving because of the vent. I have carbon fiber hood, without the weather stripping and my engine bay is dirty as hell!!. thanks for the info guys, i really want the vent mugen hood, any suggestions to help prevent water leakage..
anyone had the experience?? i know some factory car comes with vents.. but most are hoods and scoops that pop up making it alot harder for water to flow in, not to mention the angle is different with the opening of the scoop slanted toward the front bumper so the water flows away. I need somone to help be4 i invest in a hood i might regret? Any of the Jdm importers know..? IPS RANDD? Thanks
I'll bet some weter gets in. It isn't air tight. Anyway, does it matter? Maybe not..a Ferrari 355 has its engine exposed as well. Rain doesn't affect it.
hey, if you're from NYC, i'd be more worried about people throwing garbage into the vent than the rain getting in... heh heh
but for what it's worth, i will keep an eye out when i flip thru the japanese magainzes to see if there are any underhood pictures that show if there is any drainage from the vent

For what it's worth... my high school autoshop teacher a while back always said to clean off your engine by turning it on and taking a garden hose to it. I always cringed at the fact, but appearently water in the engine bay does nothing bad. If it sits there long enough to rust or something, obviously you'll have problems...
Of course, since then I've moved off of Mech Engineering to a computer science major, so what would I know?

u can wash off your engine but stay away from the distibutor and breathers or filters that might allow water access to your engine but besides that u can hose off your engine.
