Not to stir up conntraversy but.... how about Bothwell beating GM at own game??
Busting out 6 7.XX passes in hot rod in pomona... not bad for some guys that GM didn't think could do the job first of the year!!
it was nice to see both ladwig and lummus go at it. it's great for the sport, regardless of your stance on GM - competition brings out the best of everyone.
and hoyos going mid 7's, that was a sight to witness.

i still give
to GM, i personally think they've pushed the buttons on some people to step up to the plate.

i though lummus had the bothwell setup with just a diff tranny(xtrac), everything else is a copy of ladwigs car, if thats the case than its basically another GM racing effort. also i wouldn't be surprised if ladwig ditched the auto for next season.
from what i understand, lummus's car IS ladwig's car from last year

I actually had a nice conversation with Steve from Bothwell (for an upcoming article), and while the car STARTED as marty's old car, it was completely ripped apart. Everything was redone, less than 1% of the car is the same as it was from last year.
And they have the car going almost a full second faster than last year...
Boss gives you the boot, decide halfway through the year to show your boss up, beat him at 3-4 races and run much faster (consistantly) than your boss, sounds like cinderella to me

I agree the car is on a rail and Lummus is one hell of driver. The Bothwell/Garrett Sunfire made an incredible charge to finish off the season strong. My hat is off to those guys
I can't wait for the season start and hell it just ended. Hotrod,SportFwd,Allmotor and ProRwd are gonna be insane next year. Pamona x4 but every race.

now im not a GM hater or anything and i completely agree that GM has pushed some people's buttons and helped them get off there asses but marty in a stick shift will not go nearly as fast....In the words of a pro i personally know, "you cant outshift a automatic"

Man I just wanna know how much power theyre pushing. Yeah I know the tranny is why they are so fast but come on, it take mad power since these tranny are known to rob gobs of power.
And haters dont say it's their budget thats why they are so fast, money cant wont win championships by itselft.
I would just like to know if they are making over 1000 hp or maybe even more. I remember I ask this question before but all people kept saying is money money money and give no props to GM. NOw lummus comes and rocks a 183mph, man thats power baby.

after having a conversation with Steve Bothwell @ etown a few weeks back, id have to say that they are one team that is very on top of their game. If more import teams had the "team effort" and took the data they record during the runs, the honda camp would be alot quicker. PLEASE take notice as to how smooth the bothwell sunfire comes out of the hole, as compared to Gardella or some other top hotrod honda guys..
Bothwell motorsports is a great attribute to our scene. nice bunch of guys to say the least.

Actually, his bug ran a 8.428 @ 163.81 but his fastest mph was 172.

Kind of strange to hear the Honda fans giving props to Bothwell Racing and not complaining about them. Next year they're going to dominate the class and go much faster. I wonder what you guys are going to saying then. What import teams is going to step up and give the domestic teams a challenge?

Teams with alot of dedication to the sport. WE got to know our cars better.

in one of the summit sport compacts, there was one of the domestic racecar driver talking about how they could make the 4 cylinder have 1250hp easy, but they needed 1500hp to win or something like that so they're switching to a twin turbo v6

when was the last time you answered me???
and yes you need money to make power but not so much to where the honda guys cant afford. Money difference between gm and the rest of the fields is extra motors/trannies and r&d.
the gm tranny doesnt cost as much as the xtrac which is 20 grand.

Gary Gardella and Kenny Tran are both running xtrac transmissions, but they still can't compete with Bothwell Racing.

There is money in hotrod hondas , just not the right money.Stop building GSR MOTORS. They can only go so big legally. And if you did make 1300hp with one it wouldn't be as effective through the power band. You need bigger motors with more reliable power. Not that you can't go 7's on one , just not as reliably. Also honda guys have the trannys and clutches but there not dialed in right YET. I don't dislike GM or Bothwell at all . Watching there program and speaking with them has been an accelerated learning course on how to build a fast hotrod car. I respect them.
i meant, for u to hear the same thing again wich is the truth, ok say kenny or gary g blow up an xtrac what happens? do they have spares in the trailers? i bet gm has many many parts for there entire car with them if not a gm dealer call away
and like you said endless amounts of r&d wich makes a ton of difference
