Help I have 97 CIVIC HX coupe
Ok here is my problem i have a 1997 Honda civic hx and am asking if anyone knows any websites for performance on this car and no i dont want nitrous i have already had that and no i dont want an engine swap i wanna keep the same motor i would just like to know what there is out there for my motor and what websites i can go to. PLEASE HELP
yeah just go to search or check out the classifieds. the car you have is very common and you will be able to find upgrades for it... hwt are you exactly looking for i may be able to help you
okay what i am looking for are performance pistons, cam, turbo, and i think i might want to find some electronics. Right now i am just trying to find pics and prices so that i know what to save for.
name brand exactly of what parts your looking for also are you sure you want to put the money into that motor. why not just swap the motor out so u can get more bang for your buck
I know that my motor is rollerized but dont know how much potential it has and if anyone has ever actually fixed up this motor, I do want more power but everyone i know has done a swap and i was wanting to be different and build up my econ motor. To surprise people and tell them that they just got beat by a piece motor. I dont have any particular brand right now i am doing a lot of research to figure out if it is ok or really stupid to do anything. I am not really going to do any major work untill winter kicks in, that way i can drive my truck and park the car in the garage.

you should slap on a y8 tranny. Ive driven before and after and the difference is night and day.

yeah do a Y8 i loved the tranny and the diference is really black and white i actually have one for sale comming off my car if your interested
ive got a y5 with a y8 tranny, and its damn close to as fast as my old z6 motor used to be. here's my opinion. get the y8 tranny with a clutch ie act hdss, and then do a turbo setup on the y5. you need the p2n hx ecu, so you cant do any obd1 conversions for chipping and **** like uberdata. get a rising rate fmu, and perhaps some 310 injectors( or hondata if you are straight baller). colder plugs are a must, especially if you arent retarding ignition timing. im gonna recommend a t3 60 trim or super 60, it was a nice match to my old sohc vtec. ok, once you got all this, run like 7 pounds and just toss a wideband on there for a few pulls to double check you arent lean. then be happy cause boost is ******* fun as ****, and hopefully you didnt run your pocket dry
Just wondering, what is it that keeps the y5 from being able to be converted to obd1?

i believe its got something to do with the distributor, and the need for the hx ecu cause of the vtec-e(ecu only runs one intake valve and it runs it hella lean and it needs the 5 wire yadayada)....i think if you completely swap over an entire head, and then use a conversion harness i think it might work, but you just cant get a conversion harness and an obd1 ecu, its a little more complicated than that...
