internally balanced d series crank and pulley? look asap
im puttin a motor together and i need it running asap. it needs a crank pulley . i sold the original one that did not accomodate power steering. the crank was light, and "hollow" on the backside. it also had holes all the way around it.i the new one i got off a 95, is diff. it is about 5-7 pounds heavier and instead of being hollow, its thick, and there are no holes.
i also went to sl honda and it shows 2 diff types of crank pulleys, can i use either or. i dont want to mess it up, but i need it running asap. so the question is are all 92+ civic cranks internally balanced and does it matter which crank pulley i use
thanks
please get back asap

so the original crank pulley i had is not as good as the new heavier one i got. wont the balance be different since since one is heavier...please explain a little further if u can. im selling it to a freind and i just want to make sure that it aint going to take a crap on him since he is not very car smart
The weight has nothing to do with the balance. All of the D and B engines are internally balanced. The lightweight pulley was just a solid piece of steel. The heavy one you have now is a steel outer shell with a steel inner ring. The steel inner ring is isolated from the outer shell with rubber. This construction dampens harmonic vibrations in the crankshaft caused by the combustion process. It is way better for a high performance application because it promotes increased bearing life. I purposely searched for one for my turbo D that came with the solid, light steel one stock.
