Default Problem nobody could solve! please read for god sake, any help appreciated.

It's been 2 months since i brought my s2k, which has a problem ;
My car is 2001 S2000 , let me explain what i did to try solve the problem;
Mechanics from 3 different countries contacted,
-2 Diagnostics checks in different computers,no problems found
-New Iridium spark plugs,
-Injectors got cleaned,
-Valve adjustments,
-100 octanes 5 star unleaded used all the time,
-Reseting the ECU many times,
Non of these solved the problem.
Let me explain the problem now, i dont know if its electrical of mechanic ,
my car , not all the time, sometimes loose power and it gets hard to drive, hard to accelerate, no performance at all, feels like your driving an old cabrio, than its back to normal again. When it does this the response to the gas pedal dies, the torque, the bhp, everything goes down, the car does this for a while, than its back to normal again, the superb s2000. I'm thinking of selling it bcoz of this problem, cant drive it like this, but i love the car and dont wanna sell it, so people please please help me to solve this! what might this be? ??? Note: the problem decreased a little bit when i started to use high quality unleaded petrol. Please help me

hahahah sounds like the classic map sensor problem. search for "map sensor" in the s2000 forum and you'll find ways to take care of this problem, especially by gently "tapping" the sensor itself. search and you will receive.

Why not replace the map sensor with a new one, it's a common failure. Not that expensive, your symptoms are pointing in that direction.

If changing the fuel filter doesnt solve my problem, i will than go for the MAP. I tried MAP Whack many times, didnt work. This time i'll change it and put a new one. I'm pretty worried that it's the ECU thats making the problem, i might have to change the ECU , how much is a new one?

S2k_boy, what you explained sounds like my problem, you said there might be a solution for that, can you please explain it?

before changing the ecu (which i dont think will solve your problem) try RESETTING the ECU.

I thought "map sensor" as soon as I read the issues.

Replace that sensor its pretty cheap. Fuel filter as well its also cheap, then reset your ECU.

Razor knows what hes talking about.

No thats not what i mean, i press the gas but the rpm doesnt go up, i have to keep on pressing and it suddenly goes up, it doesnt response first than it does like normal. This is what happens in stop & go traffic.
When driving, the rpm goes up much slower than it normally should, and it feels like driving a heavy truck. Any solutions or suggestions? It feels like the engine wont get enough Fuel,Air or Spark. It's either because of the ECU , or one of the parts related to the Fuel, Air, Spark system. I need help from people who have any idea about it!?!

This sounds like heat soak. A CAI might be the way to go. For some bizarre reason Honda decided to put the air charge temp sensor in the manifold where it gets lots of nice radiant heat especially in stop and go traffic.

This causes the ECU to pull a heap of timing and the car becomes really sluggish. Have a look here:

yeah sometimes the map sensor is so shot that you cannot just do the "whack" fix, it's just best to replace it. i see that he lives in a hotter climate(probably very humid too). that probably put more wear on the electrical connectors/contacts of the map sensor.

btw did you take off the map sensor to check to see if any debris might've gotten into the orifaces?

CAI or a hose from the front of your car into the airbox will help

I have this problem every 6 months. I have it just one time then it goes away. I think my issue is my VAFC 2 not wanting to work with my ECU. I have the Mugen intake and front bumper and that actually helped with my hesitating issues (got rid of them completely, thus not needing a Hondata gasket). It didnt help with my every 6 month bog issue. I replaced my MAP sensor and thought that was the key but 6 months later the issue came up again. IMO, I believe its a fuel/air ratio/ VAFC problem. MY CEL has been on for about a year now and I took it in twice and they said it was a faulty O2 sensor which I replaced but it came back on 6 months later so I have ignored it. In any rate take it to the dealer and explain to them the symptoms.
I even took out my VAFC and the problem occured the next morning so thats why I think that has been part of the problem. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Well I did take it to 2 different dealers 4 times.
Let me briefly explain the problem and what i did to solve it:
Problem:
Very big loss in power after driving 20 - 30 minutes. RPM sometimes gets stuck and doesnt go up, stop and go becomes nearly impossible, feels like driving an old car. Turn off than turn on the car, it wont help. Turn the car of and wait till it cools than turn it on, it's ok, back to s2k. No CEL, nothing abnormal on the dealer's computer.

What i did:
-5 star 100 EU Octanes (98 US Octanes) fuel used all the time.
-MAP sensor whacked a lot of times, than replaced.
-ECU reset al lot of times, didnt work, than the ECU replaced.
-Coils replaced.
-New fuel filter.
-Fuel pump replaced.
-Spark plugs changed.

Didnt help. What do you think?

It sounds like you have a fuel Volume problem not a fuel presure problem. Proform a fuel volume test on your pump and check it against the spec for your car. If it is low replace the pump and have the tank replaced or cleaned. New filter are a must because anything that got past the pump is now in your filters.
