Default Engine builder in the Pacific Northwest

I just wanted to pass on a great find:

If your experience is anything like mine, those of you in the Pacific Northwest may have a very difficult time finding a local, reputable engine builder for your race or high performance honda engines. After several years of searching, our team is lucky enough to have found a VERY experienced race engine builder in Mike Simmonds who's quality, knowledge, and workmanship is second to none.

With over 40 years of experience in building race engines, Mr. Simmonds has a long and successful track record in the sport and a distinguished clientele. If you are planning on having an engine built for the '05 season (or maybe are seeking a very high-performance street engine) consider giving a call to Mr. Simmonds directly at (360) 674-7359 and ask for Aussie. I know for a fact he is not the cheapest engine builder around, he's also not the most expensive, but he may be the best!

Aussie builds our road race ITR motors for World Challenge and USTCC, however, he also has REALLY extensive knowledge of drag motors and forced induction applications on anything from Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, as well as domestic small and big bore engines.

I hope this helps any of you frustrated racers in the Northwest who struggle to find a good engine builder!

best engine builder in the NW is the person that builds their own. get it machined by someone good and build it urself.

i wouldnt say im the best engine builder. the ppl that build their own engines are the best IMO. #1 because they do it themselves #2 how do u take pride in paying someone to do something so easy.
lets be serious here. no one in the NW is a pro racer. when it comes down to doin the small small things that make the very last ounce of power then its prolly time to turn it over to the professionals. until then, i always recommend doin the motor build themselves. its so easy a monkey could do it.

Ehh, i know what your trying to say.. However...

I could train a Kaboochie Monkey to assembe a motor. Now it may last 2 minutes, but does that make that monkey an engine builder? not at all, lol

I rather pay a professional to make the motor last 2 seasons rather then my pet monkey

Engine building is not that easy, saying a monkey can do it is an insult to people cant build their own motors, and its an insult to people who make a living by taking "pride" in helping people go fast

Its not about where you are from and whos a pro and whos not....so dont use that excuse

and in my experience the best engine builders dont even race becuase they focus their attention and energy on BUILDING ENGINES

and next time dont try and give yourself such a big pat on the back

thats all that need to be said

Well, im hoping im speaking for 12NV when i say this...

I dont think he meant it as in. "Its so easy, so engine builders are useless.". Thats HARDLY the case.. I meant that most people can TRY to build them, might not last that long.. Id rather pay a professional who is experienced and takes pride in his/her motors. Its just the way i would want it, and im sure others agree..

I dont think anbody would be tryign to disrespct an engine builders out there.. One of the best engine builders i know (in my sig) is one hell of a smart guy, and to think i can build a motor that would even compare to his is a Freakin Joke altogether, lol

u think im insulting ppl that cant build their engines??? ha, so what if i am? its the net, get used to it kid.
i can hardly see the insult to engine builders in my first statement but if u wanna take it that way so be it. sounds like u have a womans complex. i know that an engine builder could do alot of the "small things" to my motor that i cant/dont know how to do. but ya know what? i dont. ya know what? i could care less. my car is built by me for me and it hauls ***. thats y i take more pride in the stuff i can do myself.

but it is about who is pro and whos not. i applaud the pro guys that use engine builders because they need that extra advantage that the small guys dont.

PRIDE IS PRIDE, JUST LIKE SLOW IS SLOW

ok you really asking for it now......

by you saying the the best engine builder in the NW
youre implying the A PERSON who build their own engines in the northwest is the best engine builder.

THE TERM "BEST" IMPLIES THAT ONE PERSON CAN HOLD THAT TITLE

since you build your own motor and you are from the northwest, you implied a possibility that you were the best engine builder in the northwest

WHICH YOU ARE NOT

even if you didnt say it in those direct words, you implied it

becuase judging what your car HAS and what it RUNS, you can ONLY SHOULD ONLY MAKE THE CLAIM THAT YOU BUILT YOUR OWN MOTOR

dont give me that in from the northwest..."were suppose to be slow" excuse, theres guys in canada that dont have half the resources you would and can outrun you.

im going to teach you something from Rhetoric 101, youve already lost an argument the minute try to insult people to turn their attention away from the original arguement.

In conclusion,
your not the best engine builder but you did make a stab at it.
you dont know how to argue.
you were trying to give yourself a
you got a

ok ill put it in other terms. there is 1 all motor car faster than mine in the NW. it resides in spokane washington. i built my motor, he did not.
im not claiming to be the best motor builder in the NW but my cars time speaks for itself.
i dont believe there is a best in the NW. ive had 2 ppl do engine work on 2 seperate occassions and both motors ran strong. my first 1.8L is runnin stronger than it did when it was new. this was 3 yrs ago it was built. my 2L is running good but has had limited time on it due to axle failures all yr.
on a side note, i put a post out awhile ago about nick and mike. im surprised those guys stepped down. its too bad, those 2 guys goin heads up could have been a damn close race.

yeah, i don't think they were ever at the same event. sucks...

I remember when Mike drove all the way down to LACR and took home the IDRC event, back in 99 or so. Back when running a 9 in ANY FWD car was amazing...

i recall them kinda swappin back and forth as far as low ETs go but last i checked nick was on top. i havent seen nicks car in forever. however mikes car i saw last yr 03' at NHRA woodburn. i forget what times he was running. i remember the car from back in 99 or 00 when john brown borrowed it just to get some pts for NIRA. it looked badass. white integ w/ full interior turbo charged. i think it ran mid 10s or something. very unheard of from the NW for that time period.

I talked to both of them at BOTI a couple months ago and Mike was saying after he parted out most of the stuff from his Teg he was able to put a street car (basically a SP/FWD) together but he took that right back apart just so it wouldn't get stolen.
