1984 Accord 1800 issues
Well, I recently bought this 1984 accord like 2 weeks ago for a daily driver/winter car so I dont have to drive my Evo in the harsh winters here and save miles on it. The Accord only had 95k on it which is pretty damn good for a 20 year old car.
Anyways, if you guys could help me figure out this problem that would be great, this things carborated and I dont even know where to start. When you first start it up, the idle is pretty damn high and kind of rumbles the car. I'm not sure if this is normal, but when I take off it gets not even to 20mph in first and it starts cutting in and out and wont go any faster. I have to then switch a gear, and it does the same thing after a couple seconds and wont go past 35mph or so. It just jerks. And there is also a bad squeak. But it only seems to squeak under acceleration, so if I pull over to take a look its not squeaking. The tach doesn't work, so I dontk now what RPM it cuts out at.
After about 10-15 minutes of driving after it warms up, it runs like a champ, like it should. Then its fine, until I let it sit for a few hours in the cold weather and cool down again, then it shows the same symptoms.
Just yesterday afternoon I decided to head into town, I got 4 miles away from my house going 65, it was doing the cutting in and out and jerking thing. All of a sudden it started losing power bad. It cut down to about 50mph and would not go any faster and it seemed really bad this time. I pulled over and it kept dying while it was idling there. But then I started it back up and continued to drive and it was fine the rest of the day.
To anybody with knowledge about these older honda that could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

You should start with a tuneup and go from there. Replace cap, rotor, wires, and spark plugs. Then maybe change the fuel filter(s).
Alright, will do, thanks for replying. I'll give that a whirl. Know of a cheap place to get parts for this online? Napa and the dealer usually overcharge quite a bit.
Thanks again.
