I looked at some exhausts that had some form of steel but not stainless. I know that stainless is supreme because it does not rust. But when purchasing your set up, have many people gone with something different to save money or other reasons?

Some people choose stainless because of the weather conditions that they have where they live.

depending on where you are, it just makes sense.
Here, in michigan (as well as a good part of the east coast), salt is used to melt snow in the winter. If I didnt have a ss exhaust, it wouldve rusted yrs ago.
If I can get anything in stainless steel, I do. ALWAYS

But, if you live in a drier climate, its probably not needed.

i opted for a non-stainless steel exhaust because it was cheaper!! that is the biggest difference i have noticed.

is there anything i should do to help it not rust?? would it be worthwhile to spray with some high-temp rustoleum??

from what i've been told, ss exhausts are what you would use if you plan to keep the car for a really long period of time. thats it

SS is for performance because SS is a poor conductor of heat. Thus if the piping does not hold heat, where does it go. Out the back. I have always used Alumalite exhaust piping on any STREET car that i build. No point in the extra for SS and no real weight difference. Also does the same for heat savaging as SS. Now on all my RACE ride i used SS, but for the reason listed above.
