Default exhaust question...

I'm sick of this Greddy exhaust that the previous owner had on my GSR and I want some peace and quiet. Will a Type R exhaust fit or is it shorter because I thought the downpipe on the header of a Type R and SI were a little longer.

If that is the case, it leads me to my next question. I know a type r intake manifold won't fit a GSR but I heard rumors the JDM 4-1 Type R header does fit a GSR head. Is this true?

I was thinking if the exhaust is short and the header will fit then the exhaust would fit after putting on the header? Please help, thanks guys

integra exhausts are interchangeable, except for 94-99 gsr's. so if you have an 00-01, it will fit with no modification, otherwise you can take it to a muffler shop and they can fit it up.

yes, but you will need to modify your exhaust for it to bolt up to the cat. but if you're gonna go as far as to get a type r exhaust and header, may as well get a high flow cat for a type r, then everything will bolt up, and you can be done with it.
also, skunk2 manifolds are replicas of the type r, and will fit a gsr head.

Good Idea

Correct but the ports actually match up with the Skunk2 IM. I believe there is some modification needed to watch up the type r IM.

yes. my point is, skunk2 makes a replica with the gsr bolt pattern so you dont have to modify the type r manifold.

he won't necessarily need to modify the exhaust, he just needs a new cat. the jdm itr header has a 2.5" collector, which is bigger than any of the usdm oem headers (itr or gsr). depending on what kind of cat you get, you could bolt up the jdm itr header to the stock exhaust or up to an after market exhaust. in the first case you would need a 'tapered' cat (kteller.com sells them), and in the latter case just a regular straight through 2.5" cat. ideally, you would want an exhaust with larger diameter piping than stock along with that jdm itr header to get the most of the performance.

the bolts on the exhaust manifold are the same for all honda/acura b-series engines though, so you don't need to worry about that not matching up.
