this is something your probably going to have to hear in my car itself, since me describing it isnt going to make any sense. i have a throwout bearing problem (i think.) when i start my car, and let the clutch out, theres this small, almost buzzing noise it makes. as soon as i put the clutch in though, it stops. is this something that is worth fixing? i cant feel the car driving any differently at all since i first got it.
another problem is that when my car, in first gear, hits around 4,000 RPM's, i get this loud, windy noise. it sounds like it could be the throwout bearing, but i dont understand how. i dont know if its bad for the car, but i really want to get it fixed.
if anyone has any help, or anything else i can do i'd appreciate it.

Actually it sounds like your T/O bearing and imput shaft bearing both. Unless you know how to take apart a D series tranny I would start looking for a another tranny!

It could very well be your T/O bearing, but if it is a high mileage d series tranny, chances are it is your input shaft bearing. Kinda not fun to replace, but if it is replaced it will almost certainly cure your tranny noise. The input shaft is the same shaft that the T/O sits on.
The noise will get worse as mileage and time progresses if it is not fixed.
The other loud windy noise you are hearing is probably the same issue.
Otherwise, it may be a wheel bearing going out. You will know it is the wheel bearing as well, if it does it at all engine speeds (completely unrelated to RPM's) and only while moving, progressively getting louder the faster you travel.
