How can I remove my AC to fee up engine power. To my understanding even though the AC is not turned on most of the time it still puts load on the engine. I don't use it and it really hurts my engine to do so, so I don't care if I remove it.

I have a 92 Honda Civic Sedan, DX. W/ a D15B7 Engine.

 

To my understading the only 'load' the A/C puts on the engine when it's turned off is the rotation of the pulley, which isn't much. So by taking it off, all you're gaining is that rotational inertia it takes to spin the pulley, which again, is minimal. But I guess every little bit counts right? And the compressor weighs a **** ton too.

 

Take off the ac and find a belt that is smaller to fit. They sell ac deletion kits online. You're talking very little horsepower here and a huge resell disadvantage. Don't do it.

Tru. Unless you dnt plan on selling the car for much, also it is only benificial if you must take it off for weight savings, or something.

 

It will however free up a lot of room for your d-series turbo project.

 

As long as your carefull, u can always put it back in. I say rip that sucker out, take pictures and save parts.

 

Ooooooooooooook sounds like the A/C is staying in. I didn't think it was much in the way of causing loss of power when turned off but I remember earlier this year being told it was righ here on H-T.

d-series and turbo shouldn't even be in the same sentence. lol jk. If you aren't expecting to get much for the car on resell then just take every piece of the body off, strip out the interior and throw a v8 camaro motor it. Hey just a suggestion. Better yet spray paint it with neon grorange paint.
