Default coilover ?

after i put on my coilovers and dropped it all the way when i hit a bump it sounds like the car is bottoming out bad. its not though im sittin on stock struts though. do i need to replace the struts? or just raise the car a bit? also in cornering it starts to skip around i have brand new tires.

Stock struts + random springs = wacky handling. The struts could be bottoming, and the skipping around over turns is probably because the springs are underdamped, making them bouncy, or they could again be bottoming the struts. Try raising the car a little.

by dropping to the lowest setting you are infact bottoming out the strut. You should raise the car and change to a better strut.

On stock struts you shouldn't drop more than an inch.

Of all the potential issues with this setup, I'm guessing that "cheap coilovers" are pretty low on the list of things causing his problem.

been there done that... coilovers are not even close to cause that. If they are brand new + cheap= slight chance

About the skipping: how low are you?

not if he has some matrix coilovers all the way down on some stock shocks, There is no doubt he would bottom out hard. vs if he had some ground control's all the way down.

i've got coilover sleeves and stock everything else. holy **** does my ride suck. i've got it dropped about 3 3/4 inches. think of it this way. when you lower your car. you lower the height of your stock shocks. if a shock has 5 inches of play..and you lower it 4 inches..that shock will only be able to move 1 inch. and when you hit a bump..where the shock would normally go down 2½ inches..it can only go down one. hope this makes sense.
