Default Cluster Question

Whats goin on guys?
I'm a long time reader , first time poster

My question is, and mind you I did a search on this already but couldn't turn up results, will a 01 ex cluster fit in a 00 dash?

I realize the clusters aren't the same size and some modification would be needed, so i think, how about the plugs? Plug and play or some rewiring required?
I haven't really seen this done and was curious of the possibilty.

My 00 ex cluster is damaged and I'm looking to replace it with another ex cluster for when I boost the d series
Overall I think the 01 ex cluster is attractive with a bigger tach and amber glow.. otherwise I'll just wait it out and buy a 99-00 si cluster.

Thanks for the help HT.

Just get an Si cluster, its not worth the hassle trying to fit an 01 cluster in. Not to mention the digital odometer would present quite a wiring mess.

You could do a '94-01 Integra cluster swap if you really want the bigger tach. They don't glow orange (unless you use a Type-R cluster), but they do match your existing white lighting . . .

Plus you could choose from the RS/LS/SE/GS cluster with 6800 RPM redline if you're using a D16Y8, or the GSR cluster with 8000 RPM redline if you're using a DOHC VTEC engine.

There are a few people who have done this swap (Integra) in the past and I know there are wiring diagrams out there for it.

I have never seen anybody do this swap before. But yeah, you'd definitely need two wire diagrams and some 01 Civic plugs. I don't know if your odometer will work afterwards. An Integra would be a good choice for a bigger tach. Get an ITR one and you can have amber. Plus the rewiring is not difficult at all, you just need to find an ITR cluster and plugs.

If you don't want to be hassled with the rewiring, then yes get an Si cluster.

I painted the bulbs in my climate control to get the SI look but its to dim, so i figured I'd go to Honda and order the climate control bulbs for an SI.
I considered the LS cluster, I think i've also seen write-ups on changing the white on them to an amber.. anyone have any links while I search for a ls cluster swap into a 2000 ex and/or color change of an ls cluster? Thanks.

For the color change, you can use a red sharpie or red transparent paint. I've seen it come out good either way. For wiring up an LS cluster, http://patriot.net/~merritt/gauge.html

I'd really like to try it too but i don't have the money to just blow away at trying it.
I've been doing mad searchs trying to find answers but no luck..
Any body remember an old post that described how to make the ls/gsr cluster fit nicely into the 96-00 dash with minimal gaps?

Most of the work comes from making it look stock. Repinning is the easiest part. Very fun to do. Did it in like 20-30 minutes. Using that guide above, I had no problem with the cluster functioning. Everything worked.

you have the speedo, tach, fuel/temp gauges right?
i was gonna offer to buy them from you but I'm thinking I might just go with a ls cluster instead...
can i rewire my civic connectors to the integra specs or do i have to buy integra connectors?

You need the Integra plugs. There's three for a 5 spd Integra cluster (two blue and the SRS). The speedo and tach parts are just the faces, not the whole gauge itself. The temp/fuel is the whole gauge though. Go with the Integra cluster, something different and a great DIY. Try to find a wrecked Integra from a junkyard and grab the plugs.

Depends on which cluster. You'll need 94-01 plugs to use that cluster.

If you are really wanting amber, a stock CTR gauge should work as well.
