Shop might have switched ECU!! How can i prove it?
As stated above.
For those of you that don't know, i'm paranoid about my car. I never part with my little bucket.
Well, On sunday, i'm comming back from Home Depot, cruising about 90-95mph, when i realize i better get off freeway cause i'm out of gas. To sum it up......... About 15 seconds later, couple of 360 turns in the freeway,1 semi, 3 SUVs', and a "OH ****".----"Poooof &*)^&^)&*%(^% And a clowd of dust and smoke.
Thats how fast it all happenned!
I Crashed my CRX on the & 710 freeway!!
Anyway, I was forced to leave my car at a shop so that my car would "BE SAFE"
To say the least, i believe they switched my si ECU with that of an HF.
Is there anyway to identify ECU's? I don't want to make accusations and then look like an ***. I know the guy from the shop. Unfortunately, I know that he's the type that would pull something like this. He's cool and all but, unless you produce some sort of evidence, he wont admit that he's done anything.
Any series of numbers that i could look for?
I drive an 90 Y-49 Si

Alright.
What is the code for EGR? Cause it is throwing a code 1.
The reason i think i might have the wrong one in is becuse, the car is reving slower and lower than normal. Also has no *****. I can't get it passed like 4,000-4,5000Rpm. I struggled to make it to 55!!! my exhaust is usually like bass low, yet still loud, WITH silencer on.
Right now though, a 3 cylinder Chevrolet Sprint sounds more intimidating!

code 1 is usually the O2 sensor, when my was fucked up i couldnt rev past 3500, probably should check that, and make sure it says pm6 on the side of the ecu
How about inside the gold box? Should there be something with PM6 on it?
And, just for kicks. What would the HF code be? I happen to know that he had an HF ECU on his Si. I'd like to find out if maybe thats what i'm sporting now.
You see, everytime we've raced, I've burnned him clean.
He has DC headers and intake.
I have intake,2.25 inch piping all the way, Hiflow cat and exhaust. Take-off or hi- speed, I always win!

all obd-0 honda cel codes are the same.
so a code 1 is o2 sensor on any obd0 honda ecu.
what does this ecu have to do with the wreck though? are you going to try to blame the wreck on him if he stole your ecu? Or did the ecu get stolen after the wreck,
Maybe the crash caused your car to run like ****.

with that in mind. Before i go out and tear my engine apart, i'd like to check my ECU first. If if indeed i have a pm6, i will tear my **** apart and figure out whats wrong with my car. But, why go through the trouble of trouble shooting the entire car when it will never run the same using an HF.
I'm also not gonna go accuse him/the shop of taking anything without consulting you guys first. Thats the reason i need to know the details of the ECU.
I'm hoping my ECU is the correct one and that my crash caused my car to run shitty, that way no-one-gets-hurt.
I'm going off of a hunch.------> I hope it's not the case.
But after all, he is "That type of guy". He's not a bad person. Just that i know some of the **** that goes on in the shop. Lets just say that if he could get away with it, he will. Sometimes, cars with compatible parts will come along with better or newer parts than those on the cars of the guys that work on the shop. These parts are often switched with compatible parts off of the employees cars. Unless you're mechanically inclinned, the average person will not notice a damn bit of a difference.
You get my drift?

dude, you wrecked your car.
chances are like 1 in a million that your problem is unrelated to your wreck.
you are way too paranoid.
check the ecu RIGHT ******* NOW and stop making yourself crazy.

Ur in downey eh? Thats close to me. What shop are u referring to. Please PM me or post it up here. HAve u checked the side of the ecu yet?
mind you, the parts that usually get swapped into customers cars are generally in working condition. However, the lifespan of the part will not live to its expectation because it's no longer the part i bought last week. Its now a part bought by the employee 2 years ago. So, now the customer will have to replace the part in half the time of its expectancy. Meanwhile, Mr employee will enjoy the customers hard earnned money .
And when the part goes bad, the cycle will begin again.

Thanx Davens.

I'm at work and wont get a chance to check it untill i get home.
By the way, i drove the car off the freeway after the wreck. Only to run out of gas completly 1 block away from the freeway. I then pushed the car from Atlantic to California, which is about 1 ****** MILE. I fueled up and went to the shop only cause i didn't want to drive the car till after i inspected it in the morning. The whole time the exhaust and engine sounded like they should. <----Thats whats pissing me off. I turnned the car on and off about 3 times to check that everything was working.

Ok guys.
So i check the ECU and on the gold box, on the side, pm6 IS definately stampped. However, i noticed one 1 of the screws was not screwed in all the way. And for some odd reason, the rest of the screws looked as if though they had beed removed at some time.

Ok, maybe the aliens that caused your wreck decided your ECU needed to be chipped and changed to make your car slower. It must be for the good of their nation, ****! This could somehow be linked to BUSH/KERRY! -__-;; Why not try buying a new 02 sensor since your tossing a code for it. Also, if your somewhat mechanically inclined, which for some reason, I don't believe... Check your 02 wiring, how bad was the wreck? Honda powerplants aren't made of billet.. And a slight fender bender can cause chaos on a small motor. I would go through the steps to find out what exactly your problem is before you continue these allegations of fraud and deviancy. IMO, you watch too much SciFi channel. - Darrell

Don't be mean. I would be paranoid too if I left my car at a shop where the guy needed my ecu. I mean seriously, there are some shady shops and people out there.
just go to the shop and bring your bat with you ..beat that guy up without a word!
then he'll give you back your ECU.
or if you can't then wait until he leaves the shop and stop him inthe middle of street..ask him!
that'll solve the problem.

unless you have had that car since new chances are that ecu has been taking out once or twice, so the nuts might be loose. but i think that you should really check your o2 cuz you are running in limp mode every time that check engine light goes on. if it was a head on accident, the o2 is right there in the front. so just check it.
