i just took out my pos d16a6, and will be putting in a d16z6.
my question is:
will the flywheel of my a6 fit the z6?
and also, do i have the wiring correct here? This is a look of behind the manifold. Thanks in advance.

you can use the A6 flywheel and a new clutch from whatever year your car is
the easiest thing for the intake manifold is just use your A6 one, everything just plugs right back in

use the z6 flywheel (it's lighter than an a6), and use the clutch that matches the year of the tranny.

it sounds like he's not getting the Z6 flywheel with the swap though
also, are you going to do OBD-I or stay non-OBD?

ya i guess thats a possibility.. he never said either way.
but i'd use the z6 if u already have it.

This isnt true guys. You cannot use an 88-89 flywheel with the 90-up clutches. The 89 is like 202mm and the 88 even smaller. The 90-up flywheels are 212's. If you dont have a 90-up tranny then use whatever year flywheel and clutch, they both must match. IF you have a 90-up tranny, then you can use either the a6 flywheel from those years, the z6 or even the y8. Just use the correct flywheel for your year if its a 90-up and then use either the z6 or y8 stock clutch, becuz they have a lil more holding power than that of the stock a6 clutches.

the splines are on the Input shaft of the tranny and mate to the clutchdisc so the flywheel has NO say in the matter between 88-89.
88 and 89 have same diameter clutch disc, but 88 has 20 splines and 89 has 21.
90-91 have the larger diameter clutch disc and 21 splines.
89 was a in between year.
bottom line, if it's an 88 use all 88 crap.
if it's an 89 tanny use the z6 flywheel and 90-91 clutch setup.

Alright got the motor in with no problems, thanks.
now, is there a way that i can switch over to obd1 without buying a conversion harness? i can get a harness of a 92 civic ex and a p28 ecu.
can i just get some wires from the ex harness, and use them to swich over to obd 1?

he know what he's talking about
well if you dont get the wiring harness and be cheap.. good chance you might mess it up... but i know most of us are short of the cheese... so do what ever you feel like doing but wiring is gonna be a bitch

hey i am doing a d16z6 swap also and i have some questions, maybe you can help me out.
once you extended the wires for the map, what did you do with the firewall mounted assembly? is it still there? there was a vacuum line from the firewall assembly that went to the a6 throttle body, what did you do with that?
umm did you have a plug left over from the intake manifold? i think it went to the FITV on the a6 throttle body, but the z6 doesnt use a connector...or something like that.
theres a vacuum port on the back bottom drivers side of the IM near the brake booster, what did you put there?
umm other than that, was the diagram you drew pretty much how everything hooked up? did you have to extend your IAT sensor wires as well?
thanks a lot

possible. i've never been 100% sure.. but that is irrelivent ... u can rule out an 88 or 89-91.
you could build your own harness. or you *could* just cut the ecu plugs off the obd-0 car and put the obd-1 plugs on there.. but i wouldnt do that.
