Default how does a butterfly intake manifold on gsr works?

does anyone have any pics or can explain to me how does a gsr butterfly intake manifold works? thanks.

They open up at about 5700...they are located in the intake manifold..and are pretty much used to restrict air and boost torque after vtec activation. They run off of a vaccum.

so if you have a line that is not plugged up will that cause your motor to run like crap?
