Anyone else carrying a full size spare?
After an experience being at the mercy of some random garage in NOVa on a road trip from a flat, I've always packed a full size spare with me. Anyone else have any tricks or tips for leveling out the trunk area with the full size spare in it? I've considering busting out the carpentry skills to make new 'mounts' out of 2x4's. Before I start planning this, I thought I'd see what others have tried, I want to expand my options...
EDIT: if you are currently running this setup, post some pics!

BUT I HAVE NO REAL INTERIOR IN THE REAR I WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING THAT WILL HOLD THE CARPET AND STUFF BUT IT NEEDS TO BE SUPER LIGHT AND I AM STILL TRYING TO FIND WHAT I WANT TO USE

it is nice to have 1 when driving longer distances then you dont have to worry about getting to the nearest tire store. and my full size spare is about the same size as my other wheels so it puts me at a little more comfort and then i can also drive over 50mph
I got a donut, 2 cans of fix-a-flat, star, and hydro jack!!
When i want to go visit my parents on weekends, there is a stretch of highway that doesnt get cell phone service, and is basicly empty. So if you get a flat your screwed.

well the donut is useless on the freeway, so that bad experience i had, i was stuck in the middle of nowhere and the nearest tire place was going to take 3 days to get the tire in the size i needed (most stores don't have low profile tires in stock)
fix-a-flat wouldnt have helped much for me in that scenario, it was a blow-out not just a flat.

same here. also, because my spare wheel is a 17 inch wheel (big brakes, its as small as i can go) it doesn't fit in my hollowed out space for the original "donut."

Yea, I'm about to get rid of my donut. I have an electronic air compressor that hooks up to the battery, it kicks ***. As well as fix-a-flat and AAA. Hell, I don't need it anymore.
You know, this whole "spare" issue really came into the light today. My clutch was slipping and I was watching the tachometer and clipped a curb (yea yea... it was stupid). Tore my front lip and blew a quarter-sized hole in my tire, time to put the spare on. I get my little *** donut out, put it on, pump it up, and lower the car again. PSSSSSSSSST. no more spare tire. I call AAA, they say they don't tow cars w/ "modified suspension". At this point, my car is sitting at my g/f's house and I say, get a full size spare, cuz you never know when something weird is going to happen.

Because I told AAA my car was lowered, and they even sent a flatbed over to my house per my request, and said theyve had to do that before also for other lowered cars. EDIT: I carry a donut right now, but i think im gonna put a sub enclosure in the spare tire well (just an 8" ) , so AAA ownz me.

I carry an extra GSR rim as my spare to fit over my brake upgrades. It bolts right up to the spot where the regular spare was, but it sticks up further. And actually that work out ok because it gives me two "pockets" on the left and right side of the trunk to put groceries and stuff in where they won't slide around.
