Default 1983 Civic Information

I have been looking for a project car. Today I found a 1983 civic for $150 bucks NO RUST 140K new paint, tires. It was hit in the door but lucky it just the door and nothing else. I could get another door for $100 bucks but that is not the consern.

-It has a d15* something in it if I can rember right, now would a D16y8 fit right in?
I guess my question is what swaps would work?

PLEASE NO COMMENTS LIKE: "You suck get a better project car, or TOO OLD!"

Ok I have been doing alot more reading about this car and have found to good we sites for information.

http://www.civic1200.com/discus

So I can fit a d16y8 in there, if I fab mounts and trim a crossmember. Then turbo!

MMmm.. a 1700 pound car with 150 hp would be scary.

I had an 83 Civic and it was carbed. From that fact alone swapping any fuel injected engine is going to be a chore, and not for the faint of heart. It was a fun little car though. If I ever found one in good coniditon for that price I'd buy it in a second.

well you should be able to mount any D Series at least since it already has one. I say just keep it D and turbo it like you said earlier. it will be cost effective and would allow you to build a crazy engine/turbo.

Well Lankordie if you are in fact looking at an 83 Civic, and not smacking yourself for thinking that vDub was a civic, then maybe look into swapping a 88-89 Integra motor in there.
