I just recently notice today while taking off my header my rear mount is rippped.. . i didnt really notice a difference in driving at all. it looks like the motor still sits strong in the bay and drives prefectly fine. Now im wondering if i should just leave it and hope nothing happends, replace it (but im poor as hell), or be a bitch and complain to HCP(which i most likey I wont do)?

Isn't HCP liftetime warranty? I seriously don't think it's gonna be that big of a problem for a lil while 2-3 months if you feel your motor moving around then I would change it asap.

 

mine was torn liek that AND the metal broke, they replaced it for free.

I had teh same problem when one of my tranny bolts broke. HCP replaced the insert for free. I've easily done over $1000 in business with them and their customer service has been second to none.

PM me if you want a little trick I happened upon when replacing my inserts.

 

mine is also torn like that but it hasnt affected the sturdiness of my motor.

 

You both probably just over torqued that bolt and shredded the outside of the lining of the insert. Not a big deal at all.

 

They must have changed their mounts because my rear HCP mount is solid prothane.

My **** tore like that after 1,400 miles. Now, if I shift too hard, I can feel the engine move. The increased vibration is definitely noticable. I don't drive the car if I don't have to, and I am getting replacement bushings from HCP in a couple of days.

its not the outside shreaded too the bottom of the bushing is gone to $hit and the bolt is sitting on the metal part of the mount.

nah its a common enough problem that the mount is not perfectly on center and one side does tear, then as it tears it disintegrates.
at least with some of the older ones. i know a year ago i found a bunch of people complaining the same thing.
its possibel though that it is from h22a's from accords though that cause that issue as the rear bracket may be slightly different.

I guess, however, mine is in a civic. The only reason my inserts ripped was my own fault. I launched at the track and a tranny bolt blew out ripping the insert of the mount to shreds.

um not sure what you mean by yours is in a civic, sicne the other people whoposted as well as myself also ahve civics with h22a's...

Someone just said that the mount may be shaped differently for an accord or whatever.

i said the BRACKET is possibly different. you know the one on the back of your motor that bolts to the mount? i beleive newman posted tha they ahd tested with known jdm h22a PRELUDE swaps as compared to accord ones. and the swap that came for me that i put in my civic i later found out was an accord h22a.

Hmm, interesting. Could be a design difference. Mind posting a couple of pics of just the bracket when you replace everything?

i have the old bracket from my engine layong aornd, i swapped in a new one when i put hasport mounts in.

Sorry to tell you, but unless that's different from the one I received, just remove the two inserts and you will see how not solid it is.

htat mount is a lot more solid looking than the one that i broke. ont he metal at least.

It didn't seem like it would come out.....but maybe it would. If it does I'm taking this opportunity to make it a real solid mount.

I just got my replacement inserts today for my rear HCP H22A EG mount. If I install these new inserts and they tear again, then I think we all will know that there might be differences between the Accord/Prelude rear brackets
