Default 90 CRX with dohc ZC swap not starting

OK let me start off by saying I bought the car about 1 month ago. The car is a 90 CRX HF with a DOHC ZC swap. Well last friday I went to start my car and it was completely dead, so I jumped it and it fired right up (The negative battery terminal was really loose, so I tightened it). Well saturday while in the hollywood video parking lot, I went back out to the car to leave and it fired up and died right away, it did this about 4 times, and I opened the hood wiggled the cable again and it fired up. Well later that day it did the same thing at the gas pumps, once again after about 5 minutes and some messing with the negative cable it started. So jump to today, I went to get my car at my fiance's house it fired right up. Well when I went to leave work that afternoon it would not start, it just turns over but never fires up. This time I was not lucky. My dad had to give me a ride home. The battery is strong, and I smell fuel. So I am stumped, I am thinking it is something to do with the coil, but I need some help, thanks guys

Chris

PS..if I left out any info let me know, I will help out as much as possible.

you probably smelt fuel because your car flooded. if you think its something to do with your coil, check to see if you spart plugs are firing. or pull off your cap and see if the coil is bad. and it also might be a good idea to check to see if you are throwing any codes. and maybe you should clean your batter posts.

hope that helped.

But if it was loose, it would not even attempt to start would it? Anyway I am back at work and it fired right up again. So I have no clue what it is.

well u might be getting a bad ground from the loose wire, causing the starter to not have enough juice.

Tighten that sucker down.

I work off of wade green and jiles. I would help with the swap, but I did not install this into the car, the previous owner did. You are welcome to look at it though.

your coil is inside your distributor. im not 100% sure, but i think thats how it was on my buddy's ZC. its a lil box looking thing with a place to connect a wire on the top. its probably just your battery connection though. clean the posts on your battery, and tighten your cables.
