Painting Valve Cover
just read all the threads about polishing valve covers and what a bitch it is so i've decided to try to paint match it to my CRX. Gunmetal, then polishing off the DOHC/VTEC lettering... maybe just tape it off to begin with. This is an extra valve cover i've had for months so i've got time to make it nice.
Question is, whats a good brand of paint to rattle can it with, what comes out with a good solid finish that can be buffed to perfection. Dont want it to be dull or grainy, I want to achieve a smooth glossy look.
Thx ~ Nikozai

If you want a smooth glossy look, you want powder-coating.
rattlecans will give a coarser finish (some like this) unless you clearcoat it.
Powder-coating would be much more durable, as well.

I chose a can of 500 degree "Cast Iron Gray" (closest high temp to gunmetal) and I did see a clearcoat can but didnt get it. I'll pick it up tonight before i spray it. take some pics... I figure if worst comes to worst, i'll have to soak it in paint thinner later... lol Either way i'll post a good How To.. and maybe How Not To ...
