Hey guys I just recieved my greddy turbo kit brand new. The fins inside seem to move like there is shaftplay? Is this normal on a greddy turbo? anyone have their new turbo do this?

 

A little play is normal.

 

i found a very small amount of shaft play on my 18g as well i thinks normal. i called majestic turbos and the they told me .010 ths is the max shaft play for it.. mine spools good and dosen't leak oil from the seals so it got to be normal...

anyone else? it still bothers me, don't know how much minimal is but the blades almost hit the wall of the turbo. Looking for more replies, can't stop thinking about it I just need to know and hope my turbo is all good...Thanks

 

don't worry it's normal, some play is required or the bearings wouldn't be lubed by the oil just like some gap is needed for main and rod bearings
The turbo shaft actually rides on a cushion of oil
