top speed for a GSR
has anyone taken a gsr and redlined it on fifth gear? i assumed that to be about 160mph since at 2k rpm it's at 40mph, 4k at 80mph, 6k at 120mph, so 8k is at 160mph. if so, how long did it take to get there and how did it handled? not that i'll do it but i'm just curious of the top speed.
With my 91 teg with a stock bottom end ls-vtec i went to 155 at 8000 rpm.....thats a guess cause the spedo stops at 145.... that is also with a b16 a y1 transmission....with a gsr transmission the gears are longer so reving as high you should hit 160
I hope this helps

What would happen if you crashed at 139mph? Would it be worth it seeing if you car can top out it's speedo?
We all go fast and drive stupid, but I think we should put limits on it. Animals can run in the road, hit a pothole, get a blowout. I doubt many of you are using tires to handle 130mph. Go to the desert for a top speed run.

Lot's of tires are rated to over 150 mph, not that I condone going that speed on public roads.
Having said that I've had my GS-R to a spedometer rated 147mph @ ~7800rpm. It was in a safe environment.
The car felt pretty stable, but I sure wouldn't want to make any kind of adjustment in direction of travel.

same for me 147....once....i'll never do that again. tunnel vision is what you could call it. (no one should go out and try to go fast just so they can post on this thread.)
I have done 142 in my GSR, dont rememebr the RPM. And all i have to say for going that fast on the streets is. I have no license now so you guys will learn. 6 months with no license and 750 in fines would teach you. And as far as tunnel vision gos i didnt get any of that though i dont rememebr looking to the side at all really.
I have Z rated tires and i was on 17's on a 40 series. The car was solid though i can say that i was trying to see how solid just it felt glued

Ok it's recommended but you can still go over without dying. "Good" tire stores won't install anything less than V on a GSR.

137 was the fastest I hit in my GSR, it seemed stable, much more than I thought it would be. It was still climbing at a decent pace as well but I wasn't gonna push it anymore. I still had plenty of room to rev, I was at 6900rpm or so...
not a smart thing to do though.

top speed 120 mph...i have a stiffer suspension courtesy of tein coilovers. i got to say 120 is fast enough....it dont matter who you are. hitting those kinds of speed the slightest jerk on the steering wheel will send you flying. a 2 inch rock in the road....and say bye. lets not all be idiots. 120 is fast....car feels like its ready to take off into the upper stratosphere...haha...but seriously its fast enough....i was at about 5500-6000 rpm...its fast enough
i got up to 135 once on the interstate.....dont remember what the rpms were though.......felt like it could go faster but i got scared bc it was before i lowered it and it was catching wind..........my tires are V rated, so im good!.....i dont think i'll ever do that again though bc i have a feeling that im going to die in a car accident one day!
I haven't had the chance to go very fast in my b18c1 powered LS. I have gone from about 85 to 120 and then back down to 85 in what felt like 7 or 8 seconds. I have a b16 tranny and my revs were at around 6.4k at 120.
