small accord problem..
alright, this may have been said a million times but i searched the site and couldnt find it. i have a 92 honda accord ex and im running into a problem starting my car in the morning. i live in SD so it is like 40 degrees.
after cranking over the engine for like 2 seconds, it will finnally start. RPM's jump to like 1500 which sounds normal but after like 2 seconds it quickly shoots down to 600! it spudders all the way down. then ill try to give the car gas to prevent the roughness of the idel and when i push on the gas it feels "lagged". like it wont rev right away, ill just press and depress the gas quickly and everything feels fine.
it will run like this for a couple of minutes, untill the engine warms up. if this helps, the cars temp gauge is almost constantly on cold. it takes a good 15 min for it to even get to normal driving condition.
if you can help i would much appreciate it! JoeRider18@yahoo.com

A new Honda thermostat should help warmup. You should reach the normal operating temperature on the gauge in less than 5 minutes driving w/ outside temps at 40F.
Hard starting could be many things. Basics of PCV, air filter, wires, plugs, cap, and rotor are a good starting point for starting problems.
The idle control valve (EACV) may not be working correctly. It could be sticking closed and causing the low idle. A 600 rpm idle will be rough.
good luck

yea i know its not the air filter, wires, plugs, cap or the rotor.. i am going to check my EACV valve later tongiht to see if thats the problem.. also, my pcv has a little problm. if you shake it, you dont here that little ball fling around. but i did pull it off while the car was running and there was presure in the lines.
A new PCV or simply clean your old one should cure that problem. Make sure the PCV hoses are open also. I recently left my PCV off while cleaning the EGR manifold and when cranked the engine cycled from high idle to low fairly quickly.
