Are you talking about a replacement catalytic converter?

It's actually going to be cheaper for you to buy a cheap header and a cat that mounts under the engine than replacing the OEM cat. I was quoted over $800 for the OEM replacement cat for my Civic CX. I spent $300 putting on a header and a generic cat.

the OEM HF/STD set up with the cat mounted directly on the exhaust manifold (like a turbo) sux bad

back when i had a D15 in my 89 STD...i just got a cheap ceramic 421 header (i.e. ebay focuz) and a resonated test pipe ("high flow cat")... with an ebay 2.25" stainless midpipe (bolted onto stock rear section)... to replace the OEM cat-on-manifold set up...it worked and fit great.. it made the car run a LOT better.... i want to say that the total cost was about 300... header + gaskets (donut + copper one for head) + "high flow cat" + midpipe, but it was awhile back so i dont remember..... i would recommend doing the same .. possibly using a carsound or other cat in place of the test pipe, if need be...

i honestly dont remember if the stock mid pipe was re-usable..i think it will actually bolt onto the new header without any place to put a cat.. i think the HF/STD midpipe is longer than the DX/Si one in order to directly meet the downpipe coming off the cat...

i dont think you are going to be able to find a brand new replacement cat for the weird cat-on-manifold config, aside from a high dollar OEM part... so that means junkyard.... but i dont think i would bother with it if i were you.... if your cat is bad now its the perfect opportunity to turn the problem into an upgrade

That's what I said to the guy at the Honda parts counter. Actually...I'm looking right now at Honda's Parts site...the OEM replacement is $407.21.
