Some folks swear by it, and others say it will kill your header much quicker. I tend to like a ceramic coating such as Jet-Hot for longer header life, lower underhood temps, and better looks.

argh, just the mention of header wrap makes me itch again

i did this to my mild steel yoshimura header on my gsxr... rotted it out in a year, even though i don't ride in the wet... regardless the wrap tends to retain and trap moisture within itself

because back in 1990 ceramic coating was pretty exotic and to get it donw would have been worth more than my bike

Wraping the header helps keep the temp. under the hood down. The very first header I bought was a DC ceramic for my 96 LS. I wrapped it and it only lasted me 1 year. After that I bought a Comptech SS and never wrapped it. Now I have a JDM ITR 4-1 header with heat shields. The heat shields reaaly seem to help keep the temp. under the hood down.

I believe it was... <goes to check the paper that AOI sent him> ... it says ~$150, but get an exact quote by calling Jet-hot (610-277-2444). And, yeah, it's really awesome to see it in person.
