Exeedy or TODA Clutch? (Or others?)
What do you think? Who makes the best Clutch for a Medium modded Type R (180-200whp - I might put the cams back in or pistons,etc.). So far I've heard Exeedy is very good and also TODA. I was thinking of doing a TODA Light Flywheel/Clutch package. Is the Exeedy or other brand that much better than TODA where I would want to buy them seperately (TODA flywheel & (X) Clutch)?
I hope someone can make some sense of this!!
Thanks

I prefer SPOON flywheel rather than Excedy and TODA's. For clutch set though I tried SPOON street clutch set on an ITR before too I love them. Pedal feel is good and not too stiff.

I have the Toda flywheel (no Toda clutch) with another aftermarket clutch and it works great. I just read that TODA's clutch kits are completely balanced on a dynamic balancer to eliminate vibrations at high rpms. So it might be worth it to get the whole kit from TODA.

I got that same answer from the very knowledgable and polite guys at akh yesterday when I called for more info. They also recommended their street clutch as the race one is an on/off switch...

I think he's looking for an unbiased opinion, not one from the company that sells Spoon parts.

IMHO I think TODA's 3.8kg flywheel is a bit too light for the street. It maybe good for race but it's just too light. That's why I take SPOON since it's a bit heavier.

Blade I am not their employee sorry. I have Excedy clutch on my civic, but I don't bought it here in Canada. I bought it from HK, which the packings are totally different when u compare. Not sure if it's the same inside though.

True Blade...if I have a chance I will try both setup before I invest the money. And see which setup is most suitable for urself. That maybe the "fairest" way and u will make a better decision.
this could be like comparing alum vs chromoly... i'v seen both and both have very nice quality!!! i went with toda because of the weight distrubution mentioned above. i'm running on the street with stock clutch and it's great. plus dave (R&D) made me get it... i give into peer pressure.

i just purchased (thanx r&d) and installed my exedy organic clutch
although i have to take it easy for awhile, i can comment on the stiffness of the
pedal pressure. it feels just a hint heavier than the stock one, like talkie25 said i've already adjusted to it within 20minutes of driving. take-up feels smoother than my stock one, have not lauch it hard yet though, so i can't comment on that
but so far so good

Well I think I'm gonna go with the TODA one, but now the race or the street? Is the race clutch really that bad? I don't mind hard stuff (Read: No PS, No AC) so a little clutch effort aint the end of the world. Also being that I don't have alot done to the car (engine wise) this clutch should last longer than the stock one because it's made for more power, right? I want something that'll hold up to the abuse of drag racing, but thats JUST civil enough for street driving....any suggestions?
Exedy / toda flywheel is what I am running. Its a great combo for the money. If you are set ont he TODA then get it. The only problem is that its 3x the amount of the Exedy, and your not really getting that much more.

And I'm now seriously considering the toda street clutch and flywheel. Yes they are balanced for high rpm use together as a package, and only ~$200 more than the exedy and toda flywheel package...

just throwing this out there but comptech seems to be one on my list of flywheels. Its good enough for the realtime racing team to use it so it should hold up to most of our driving. This is the one I'm looking to get. I've been very pleased with the quality of evey other comptech product that I've seen and used and they have great service. I lost a couple endlink bolts and I'll called them up and they sent me out two more for free.
