First impressions of NSX
Hey my dad bought a 92 white nsx with white wheels, some aftermarket suspension, taken care of very well. 100,000 for $27k
Well coming from a hybrid h22 sol this car is wayyyyyyyyy differant. First off the car is flippin beautiful, outside and in. The whole feel of the engine is differant obviously because its a v6 which at first i didnt like, yes it had great daily driver power at like 1500-2000 rpm. Flooring it from there just felt like any other v6 but at about 4k it seemed like it gained alot and then vtec came in. I was expecting it to like whiplash me into the seat and take off since its an NSX and all. But vtec engages very smoothly and you can hear the differance in sound.
One thing i didnt really like was how the clutch pedal is so close to the brake pedal, it felt cramped but i got over it.
I love the shifter mechanism it clicks into every gear and if it gets stuck it simply wont go in, on the flipside with my prelude tranny it will try to go into gear and feel all sloppy. Much more precise with NSX.
I love the exterior of the car, I just stared at it for like an hour.
Haha the best part is that when your just cruising at the speed limit and see some ricer civic or teg, they just STARE. Its great aside from minivans and cheap pickup trucks wanting to race.
Even though it may not be the fastest car stock, I think it makes up for it any every other way it possibly can. I figure its setup more for weight balance then being a fast straight line car. From the butt dyno it felt like my hybrid would definetly win but even if so i would sell mine in a heart beat for NSX.

haha yeah that would be sweet.
This probally isnt the right place to ask but why do most v6/v8 guys supercharge their cars, whats wrong with single/twin turbos?

umm usually... when you have a v6 or v8 you're gonna want to use twin turbos.. not single.. which will then make it even more expensive to boost it with turbos... supercharger is cheaper to go boosting with on those cars.... also sometimes.. the room is very restricted in those vehicles because the engines are a lot bigger then our 4 bangers...so putting on a roots supercharger is easier...
heh i guess the original owner was a member of NSX america cause its got a sticker on the rear inside window.
Oh and I guess sometime in its life it was on the cover of NSX magazine or something, we're trying to get a back issue of it so ill post it up if anyones interested.

you need to watch the Best Motoring movie where an NSX-R romps on Lamborghinis, a Ferrari, and a Porsche for a few laps until overheating
it lead the entire race!
it was awesome because the Murcielago and the Gollardo only won by brute force on the very last straight of the race... the NSX owned them on every turn, which was cool because the V12 Murcielago and the V10 Gollardo have twice the HP that the NSX have.
anyways, IMO: NSX = epitome of Japanese engineering

I think it was more Gansan's super aggressive driving than NSX-R being a better car. It did fair pretty well though.

then explain why almost every single fast supra uses a single turbo setup?

Without commenting on 03s2kblue's statement: Supra does not have a V6 or V8.

heh, nsx's arent the fastest car.
but i still doubt your h22 sol would beat one.
might be a close race though!
and yeah, nsx are cool.
My favorite moment was when my car friend(who supposedly is supposed to know his ****, but really thinks he knows more than he does) came up to me saying "dude me and josh(my other friend who knows LESS THAN NOTHING) decided that nsx's suck because they're just wannabe ferrari's"
Heh, the nsx isnt even my favorite car, but their ignorance just makes me crack up! hah.

lol, if i would of known about compatibility at the time i prolly would of put some on, rather than the gsr's. Anyways the gsr brake swap is very niceeee, no complaints.
i know how you feel when you say id sell my car for an NSX.
I'd rather have a stock NSX over a 12 second allmotor civic anydayof the week.... Including feb. 29
I love NSX's, its just that my 3000 dollar civic isn't much of a downpayment haha

Well, turboing the NSX isn't impossible.. just not the best of routes. Why? It's mid engine lay out makes for awkward cooling. It's not like you could put a front mount on there and run piping to the rear. heh...
I've seen rear hood scoops that people have done.. but I'd be paranoid of sucking in a bird with a set up like that. I don't think it'd be all too likely to happen.. but possible.
As for the Supra/Skyline being TT'd, it's got to do with the I6 setup, the way the manifolds are easily done for TT, and how the crank works in an I6 set up I think. It's stuff I can't really explain because I don't have that much of an in-depth knowledge for that. I'm sure howstuffworks.com couild talk more extensively about this.

heh, like I've said.. it's possible to turbo a NSX.. but I guess I've seen more people go the S/C route. Do they actually have a bolt on kit sold now for the NSX? I've not checked in awhile.

No, not for a turbo. Each one is a custom installation, at Factor X or at Performance Autoworx.
