Exhaust size help...
Ok, I'm buying a 94 Civic DX Coupe on Monday. I'm looking to start upgrading stuff slowly but surely just need opinions because don't know civics too well, had a turbo DSM before. First is exhaust, I'm gonna put a B18C1 GSR motor in it down the road so what exhaust size is good for my 1.5 now and than the 1.8 later? I was thinkin about 2.5 cat-back, test pipe, and than I'm stuck on headers, should i get 4-2-1 or 4-1? Intake wise I'm gonna do a cold-air with the AEM by-pass valve but what size intake pipe is good? Bascially thats all I'm doing motor wise until I get the GSR motor, I'll be working on the exterior and interior stuff until than. Thanks for any help
well i just swapped my gsr into my ek hatch a couple wks ago and im going with a cai, dc jdm 4-1 headers, 2.5 exhaust w/ es oval exhaust. hope this helps.

My friend with a H22 and Injen CAI runs a 2.25 piping with universal cat, cherrybomb resonator and Apex-i N1 Muffler. This was downgraded from a 2.5 piping, no resonator and cheap fart can and you can def. tell a better difference after the change. There is alot more grunt on the low end and with the N1, he still has room for the high end pace. I would suggest running 2.25. All the honda's I work on run 2.25 unless it's a built NA motor or FI one.
Aight than, I'll probably go with the 2.25 in that case, future upgrade is gonna be a built GSR motor or 2.25 should be cool. Any idea on intake pipe size, or just get an AEM cold air for it. By the way before I buy the car tomorrow, is there room for improvement on the DX's, as in putting the GSR motor in and what not?

i suggest you not waste money in a header for the sohc if you're planning to swap into a dohc later. they aren't interchangeable.
air intake, cat-back exhaust system, and fpr are some things you can use later in your dohc engine, so you can upgrade those while having your sohc.

Didn't even think of them being interchangable, well I'll wait on that but should I get 4-2-1 or 4-1 when the DOHC goes in? whats the difference between the 2?
4-2-1 improves mostly midrange power.
4-1 improves mostly top end power.
I recommend a 4-1 for a gsr, more top end for vtec because most likely you'll want to be in vtec while you're racing.
