Default wierd noise in ek

i got a weird noise in my 97 dx civic stock engine..whenever i put in in first and it revs high i start hearing this clinging noise also in second gear.. i don't sound like its coming from my exhuast.. the car was runnin LOW on oil for a while cause i forgot to check the level cuase my car burn oil like crazy but doesn't smoke or have a oil leak i don't know if the problem can be linked to that.. tranny bucks when starting first gear.
thanks

I think you have a spun rod bearing. But don't take my word, I'm not a mechanic. For your sake, I hope you don't.

Yes it is in your block. It is cause by very low oil and the bearings not being lubricated enough. And unfortunatley, they are a bitch to fix. I don't know a lot about it (hope I never have to learn the hard way), but there are people on here that do and will help you more than I can. As for the oil light. Those are "idiot lights", they only come on during EXTEME conditions, as with oil, it will come one where there is almost no oil left. Stupid design if you ask me. Good luck man.

Ouch dude.... clunking sounds arent good. Where are you located?

First off stop driving, dont even take the car around the block, because the block might go and just leave you there.

Driving with no oil is very bad because it could easily break damn near anything in the block. That clunking sound could be a spun rod, do you hear it in any other gears (im more then sure you do). Labor is going to cost you on rod bearings, its better to do it yourself if you know how. If not you might have to bite the bullet, provided its a spun rod.

It might be a bent/warped rod do to being to hot and just didnt break yet, which is even worse then a spun rod because youll have to rebuild the block. Sorry to say but you just about fucked yourself over without running a oil pressure gauge. Oil is very important to cool down your motor, without it you have nothing. You shouldnt run anywhere under 20psi on idle and 80psi WOT.

I had a friends tercel that was ran with no oil, that **** blew up (literally). I spent more then 1/2 of my senior year working on it just so it could happen again. I was beyond pissed. PLEASE PUT OIL IN YOUR CAR!!!!!! (that goes to everyone)

Check your valves, do a valve adjustment and see how they look.
