I parked my 01 civic lx a couple days ago in the driveway. Then when I pulled out I noticed that there was a little puddle of white flui that leaked onto the ground from underneath the car. The ground was already wet from the rain so that might have mixed with whatever leaked from my car. But what would leak and leave a white residue??

 

does it look like it could have been battery acid at one time?

 

Did you smell it? That's one of my first reactions after looking at any liquids that seem to have come from the car. If you did smell it, what did it smell like?

 

Its weird. It stopped leaking. Actually I think its when I have the A/C on that it leaks, so I'm thinking its just condensation dripping. Possibilty?

 

a/c condesation is nothing but water. Could be r-134a fluid leak. I believe that stuff is white.

 

id guarentee thats what it is......have your system checked for leaks

No such thing buddy. At least not at atmospheric pressure while outside.

If it's when you have your A/C on, it may just be condensation. Next time, try and park in a place where it will puddle and not be contaiminated with anything else. Afterwards, if there is a puddle dab your finger in it and smell it. It more than likely is nothing other than the condensation run off. All cars with A/C do it.

Hell, I was scared at the volume my Cobra let off, it was about a 15 foot by 1 foot puddle from the car. I thought I cracked the radiator. But nope, just the A/C condensor.

 

White fluid huh? I guess you car REALLY wants to mate.

It is a fluid, only when under pressure.

Yeah, and the 14.7psi of atmospheric pressure isn't going to keep it a liquid. That and the 70+ degree air isn't helping any either. Find me a P/T chart so I can see at what temp you'd have to be for 134A to be a liquid. I guarantee you it's a HELL OF A LOT colder than 70 degrees.

Well, according to this P/T chart I found you'd have to be at an atmospheric pressure between 75 and 125 psi (depending on if you're in Missouri or Arizona right about now for your 134A to be a liquid), or you would have to be at about -15 degrees. Either way it proves that it's not leaking 134A.
