Default quick question on blackhousing

ive been doing searching but have not really answered my question. I'm trying to figure out how far back on the top and bottom of the lights that i am suppose to paint for a diy on the stock lights. I realize that i am suppose to paint up to the point where the shape of the headlight starts to slant in, but should i paint on the top and bottom all the way back or just even with the start of the reflector part so that there is still chrome showing on the top and bottom? I dont want to lose any of the brightness in doing this so im asking before i jump into things. thanks

just do what looks best to you...i'd start by leaving some chrome on top and bottom, and if it looks bad, paint some more...as far as the amount of light you will be producing though, you are going to lose quite a bit no matter what you do...

If you go to far back it will alter the way the beam is projected
