i got the alternator off, but i cannot get it out through the bottom because there is no room to get it out....what is the proper way to get the alternator out????

 

Is it carb'd or EFI?? I'm not quite as familiar with the carb'd ones, but on the EFI you just take the airbox off and slide the alternator over to the passenger side and lift it right out the top. It's really easy actually. Carb you can probably do the same just have more vacuum lines and such to try and weave it through

 

on my 86 LX I pulled the axle and dropped it down and pulled it out from the bottom of the car... not hard to do. Just be easy and pull it out straight so you don't nick the seal... for that matter, you should go ahead and change out that seal as it's only a few dollars and you've probably got a lot of miles on her.

thanks for the advise i thought that i would have to take take out the axle but i slided over to passanger side it worked but was not easy lot easier than taking the axle out thanx again this is the best 24/hour customer service
