fellas, there's a lot of coverage on the valve cover in the archives that i found...many words spent on authenticity and its "value", but i couldnt find info on its installation which i hope someone with knowledge can comment on...i hope actual owners can chime in.

i've been considering acquiring the cover for a while now, and i'm looking towards the possibility of a used one as we all know how pricey these things are brand-new. (this is not a thread on validating or ridiculing spending on the cover btw, just want "technical" advice on its application ...lets not waste space by arguing over the subjective)

anyway, some sellers i have found more often than not no longer have the hardware and package that is included from mugen when buying a brand-new cover. my question is, will the lenght of the stock valve cover bolts suffice and be long enough or will the cover "require" the provided hardware? also, will the stock gaskets work fine with the mugen or do i need special ones from mugen? i know i could possibly source the hardware from a parts/hardware store, but i'd like to pass on that headache

i already messaged ausmith if the said hardware package is available seperately, so i'll see what he says. but if the answer is no, i dont want to be stuck with a used cover. ANY info on this greatly appreciated. i know i wouldnt be the first to buy a used mugen cover

 

The hardware package is most likely available seperate but I am pretty positive you do NOT need it and it will simply bolt on. If your car hasn't changed gaskets in awhile I would recommend changing out the valve cover gasket, grommets and spark plug gaskets.

 

thanks dennis, thats what i'm guessing about the hardware. i've looked at some pics of the cover in different engine bays and the bolts in question are sometimes long, and sometimes is just about flush with the locknut...hope someone who has actually installed one either way can verify

 

all you would need is a new gasket and the rest of the old bolts would bolt right on would it not?

when i bough my jdm valve cover it came with nothing but the valve cover... and all the orginaly bolts work'd fine.. it could be different for the mugen one but i doupt it..

also if you guys wanta jdm valve cover i know this place that sells them with the jdm oil cap for liek 150 instead of just the valve cover
