They will prematurely wear the stock shocks. And if the R is still on original stock shocks with average mileage this may happen sooner than later resulting in poorer ride and performance.
They are not an improvment where performance is concerned, they'll be more a "style" and "looks" mod.

How modded is the car your getting? And how many miles?
If it's stock, leave it that way for at least your first few Autocrosses.
You don't need to do Anything immediately to an ITR to be competitive with it for autocross.

I won't tell you what to do but I'd leave the stock suspension alone for at least one full autocross season. I've done almost two seasons on two seperate ITRs and I'm still "learning" to drop times with my car classed as D Stock.
The first ITR I acquired had Neuspeed race springs and stock shocks (what was left of them). The ride was miserable and bottoming out was not uncommon. I had to replace the stock shocks with Bilsteins and the ride became really nice (i.e. stiff and predictable).
If you are going to have to cure an insatiable itch to spend money on your new toy, buy Koni Yellows and leave the stock springs. SCCA stock rules allow shock modifications but springs must remain stock.
Good luck racing and don't forget, everyone gets their *** kicked on thier first autocross!

please dont put 18's and a body kit and shaved handles and all kinds of rice on this car, like your GSR
with that said
good luck with autocross
hold off on your springs and shocks, run it stock, the stock suspension rules
if you decide that you want to change it, let me know, i will be selling Bilstein shocks and H&R sport springs soon
but anyway, keep the R safe and clean (no rice)
