reasons to NOT buy a salvage titled vehicle (9 pics)
the integra was already on a salvage when i bought it, and someone backed into me later. i dont know when this cracked formed, but it got HUGE. it wraps around 3 sides of the strut tower.

the black line is where i marked the end of the crack, and a couple days later that's where it spread.

right now im dropping the lsvtec with a ys1 xsi tranny into my crx, and looking for a new 94-01 shell so i can transfer everything over so everything doesn't go to waste. probably get an ls block, too, and build it up for another lsvtec so i can drop it in later.
buy clean titles, people.
on me.

dang man that sucks...
good luck finding a shell ... sometimes ive seen them go for real cheap.
not all salvage cars are bad ... as long as there fixed right then there is no problem with them ..
stolen salvage cars are also good becuase they never been in a wreak just got stuff stolen off of them

The frame is fixable. You need to go to a frame specialist. it might run you like 1000 or more to fix the frame. they also can reweld to make the frame stiffer. They will tie down the car with chains at specific points on the chasis. Machine will pull, while car is strapped down, and the the specialist will bang it out. I Have seen it done multiple times (uncle is one). Also you can buy a front clip and weld it together (jdm cough cough). I can my ask my uncle to help you fi it but im located near Philadelphia. Ill keep my open around Penn/NJ for shells.

here is kind of an example of this ... my old hatch after i wreaked it .... i put it on the frame rack and measured it all up... just to make sure nothing was bent and stuff ....................... i was going to school at the time so all it cost me was a shop fee to fix it myself.... ....... came out perfect and i cant complain with all the money i pocketed and got extra stuff for the car..........
if you buy all the parts maybe you can have a chance and have a local school use it as a project and they can fix it for you cheaper..... the only bad thing is its takes forever because it is a school
during the process of me fixing it at tech school ;;;;;;;

salvaged cars are never the same once they're deemed salvage, especially title-wise, i used to think buying salvage cars was a killer deal, but after reading the rebulding laws and licensing rules, it's a PITA

u cant say all salvaged cars are bad, i jus picked up a 2000 gsr for dirt cheap, it was a theft and has never been in an accident, resale value is low but if i were to sell the gsr i would make a lot becuz of the great deal i got on it, u jus gotta be careful with salvaged so u dont get somethin like what happened above
Yea that does suck. Same thing happened to me on my 98 civic. in the same general spot. Cost $800 to fix it. Then I noticed it on the other side but real small and then it spread, but I wrecked it before I had to fix it. But yea that sux
it is your responsibility to check a car before you buy it. noone forced you to buy that specific car. i've bought salvaged cars and never had a problem becuz they were mostly theft recoveries.
on a brighter note, i'm selling my GSR shell (clean title;-)
located in S. Florida. PM if interested.

so true.
Although im not a fan of salvage titled vehicles, you can actually pick up a nice one that holds a salvage title due to theft. Vehicles salvaged from severe accidents are the ones I would absolutely stay away from.

i also was always against salvaged cars, i thought i would neva buy one til i found a 2000 gsr for dirt cheap, u jus gotta check the car up and down before u buy it and ull be safe, or have someone who knows look at it

true.. until you get pulled over and your car pops up as salvaged, salvaged vehicles are not road-worthy unless deemed so by a trained federal inspector and are restored by a licensed rebuilder, in which case you can apply for a special rebuilt tag and title... mucho hassle

depends on WHY it was given a salvaged title.
Theft recoveries ARE sometimes better than a regular one. My own car was one of those...and not only did I get the car cheap, but the entire drivetrain had been replaced with a new one, as well as the interior. So all of that **** was new.
