from regular to synthetic
I was told that when you switch from regular oil to synthetic you should do another oil change soon because of the synthetic oil breaking up the old sludge. How many miles do you think I should make that next oil change? thanks.

Same here. You could do it and tell us how it goes.

The only thing with going to synthetic from regular is that sometimes the seals leak if they are bad because of the makeup of the synthetic oil.

ok... owned a 89 prelude si that i burnt all the seals up on and rings and whole nine yards.... from going from royal purple back to my castrol ( cause it was rediculous for me to be spending 8 per QT.)
You don't have to change the oil soon if you are not **** about your car...
But if you can afford it, why not... but my point of view is that you don't have to change your oil filter at first (cos it is the waste of money) but it is at your own risk...
Just drain the old oil... put in some synthetic that you will use further on...
Run it for 800-1000 miles but do not floor your car... just drive it carefuly...
Then after 1000 miles drain that oil, replace the oil filter and put in new oil... you should be fine...
But like guys above said, it is not necessary as long as you change your oil regularly (3000-3500 miles including oil filter every time)...
