good mechanic in LA-SFV area?
Hello,
so my coworker recommended a good mechanic who charges good rates so I go to him to get my warped front rotors replaced and my sticking accel pedal cleaned. Things go smoothly but he tells me I need to change my timing belt and water pump since I've got about 66,000 miles on my '00 Accord. I didn't have the money but I told him I'll come back when I do. It was a good experience so I decide to come back later.
Several months pass, I got enough cash so I go back and do the work. I ask him to also check the pollen filter to see if it needs replacing. He does the other work fine but he uses a Mitsubishi belt instead of a honda one and can't find the pollen filter. Then I find out I didn't have to change the belt and stuff until 105K!
Really chaps my hide.
I shoulda checked the manual first so it's my fault too i admit. however, it's appearing to me that this guy might be good but doesn't know his accords from his buicks.
So, i'm on the hunt for a good mechanic (as well as a good barber while I'm at it) in the western San Fernando Valley area of LA.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

The best mechanic is yourself! If you are not up to the task then go to the dealer, as shady as some people make them out to be, they wouldnt have told you that you needed your timing belt changed at 66K.
i can refer you to some of the mechanics at the garage where used to work. its located in Reseda. email me or post a reply if interested. i can help make sure you get exactly what you need, nothing more so you dont waste your money. that mechanic you were talkin about was a jackass.
Cool man. would appreciate the recommendation of where you used to work.
I hope it's not the same place i went to. the mechanic in question is in Reseda!
thanks again though.
happy motoring!
