Default B18C5 Questions

I have a JDM DOHC VTEC B16 engine with skunk 2 stage 1 cams, aem cam gears, a skunk 2 intake manifold (which was milled to fit the head) and a DC 4-1 header. Lately I've been thinking about swapping in the JDM 1.8L Type R engine and was curious as to which of the parts I named above would fit into that setup (if any.) I also would change to a Type R tranny because it is geared better for that engine, but heard a rummor that the Type R axle isn't compatible with a 1993 del sol body, is this true? If so, could I use a B16 axle with a B18C5 tranny/engine setup.
Thx in advance...

Yes, a B-Series axle is a B-series axle. There's something about some being ABS and some not though...

first of all, keep your engine. Why switch? If you want a 1.8, bore yours out or use the Tech43 stroker kit. For the price of an ITR swap (up to $4000ish?), you could have a MONSTER b16. I have a b16 in my Si, and i bought a type r bare block, but i'm just gonna use the block with my b16 head .. yes, this contradicts what i just said, but ya.

I figured if I looked hard enuff, I cud get a full Type R swap for 2500 or less... plus, whenever u send a block into a speed shop, there's the human element of failure, the honda production line has a smaller chance of ******* up than jake at the local speed shop, even if the type r has 40k miles on it, I trust it more.

EDIT: and "B18C5" are USDM Type-R dude...
JDM Type-R say "B18C" on the block..like the GSR.

well the b16 is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to B series dohc vtec motors... and it does make the least amount of power and torque.

but it's still an engine that is fun as hell to rev the crap out of. I know mine takes a beating and keeps on goin.

but it's really fun when you leave a gsr behind lol. seriously...it just depend on how much $$$ to a certain extent that you can make any engine have hp/tq.

street racer with a gsr: what do you have in your car?

p.o.s. si h/b: 1.6L...Ya I swap a 1.6L to a 1.6L...

street racer with a gsr: you wanna run?

p.o.s. si h/b: yeah sure <evil grin>

street racer with a gsr: Hey that B.S.!!! How'd you beat me? Are you sqeez'n?

p.o.s. si h/b: Opps... did forget to say it t went from a sohc to a dohc 1.6L?

street racer with a gsr: Hell no... No b16 can hang with my gsr...

That abou how people feel about b16's until they get whoop on lol.. sorry for taking up space with this useless crap lol

skunk2 manifold milled to fit? all the parts you listed would interchange. Now about the type r tranny... if you have a b16a tranny (hydro) the gearing would be the same in the usdm type r tranny and jdm 96-97. the only really better geared tranny would be the 98 and up type r tranny. and about the axles yes you can use your b16 axles. in 98 and type r axles they use a larger splines in the hub and a 36mm axle nut...not your typical 32mm axle nut there fore it would not fit into integra/civic hub assembly. please anyone correct me if I'm wrong...

OMG that makes the gsr swap worth 1000 more doesn't it! With the price of the GSR you could build a b16 to give you more power.

if i were you i would buy antoher block and do a light build on it.
your head is already good for a nice street motor. and the skunk2 stage one cam is a decent cam.
if i were you id save up a little more, buy a block get it bored out and sleeved and put in some eagle rods and some good pistons. shoot for a compressions at around 11.0/1 and leave it at that.
