I dont think a dsm motor is a weak power plant one of the few strong factory motors out there(6 bolt of course) the weak part is the tranny for sure. Pruvens old street car is sick some younger guy around here bought that car and its always at turbotrix.

The tranny can become a lot stronger but with a rebuild from TRE or shepracing. I am getting my tranny done this summer at shepracing.

Most of the parts used are all oem. What happens a lot of the time on the launch is that the front diff will break. Most places offer to weld the diff, with the locking sleeve. Also steel shift forks seem to be helping. I have over 60 passes on my awd last year after the rebuild by Shep, still on stock axles, rear, and transfercase, and no problems whatsoever.

He never said they were weak, he said they don't last very long...

It is a pretty well known notion that DSM != reliability.

They are as reliable as the owner or the person building it. Just like EVERY car.

That car is nuts. It runs high 8's on i believe. Dumb question, but have they ever run that on street tires? I thought I saw that somewhere.

looks like the turbochargers.com car.....awd and a sick build drive train...
they could never really get the tuning right.the installer was a x employee of the company or something...ric at racingmazda a few years ago did some basic tuning and pulled a 11 something out of it when its fastest had been 14 or so....haltec i think???????????

yah galzier gets out of the hole but hes a horses rear end to those who lend them a driveshaft to continue into the finals the next day and then sends the same shaft back 4 months later.....oh damn im slamming....pure truth though....

I'm not the one that gave them the reputation...they did it all on their own.

I like DSM's, I was just clarifying what they guy above was saying. He never said they don't make tons of horsepower, he said they are unreliable. Its pretty much the same thing that 90% of DSM owners will tell you.

****, I remember somebody on this board having a sig something to the effect of "my eclipse is in its natural habitat, on jackstands". That about sums it up right there

Obviously none of this even applies to this car at all...again I was just clarifying what the above poster actually said because it was getting taken out of context.
