89's are 3rd gen.....common sense says no...unless this accord is imaculate, theres no reason to trade a 9 year old car for a 16 year old car.......
DX, LX its carbureted, LXi, SEi its fuel injected.
If both cars are of the same condition, Id say go for it, those older accords are cool as hell, besides who wants a Cavalier.
3rd gen accord ran from 1986-1989
I went on to http://www.kbb.com and priced each other and for the cavilier (I dont know all of your cars info) I put it as the 95 LS Sedan 4dr with 80000 miles and the basic equipment, it comes out to be 2480 in excellent condition.
As for the Honda I put it in as a 1989 LX 4dr with 100000 miles and the basic equipment, it comes out to be 2870 in excellent condition.
If you do trade take into consideration that the 3rd gen is loaded with vacuum lines and sometimes if there is a problem it can be harder to trace than when dealing with a newer vehicle. This was all private party value by the way. Do you have any pics of either car?

What is an xl accord does that mean extra large? Depending on the condition of the two cars matter most if its not an eco tech or z24 there aint to much you can do with an less you do a motor swap in the cavalier which would cost to much$$$$$

NO! There was no EX in the US for that generation! It was an LXi and the SEi toward the end of that generations run. The "i" stood for fuel injection, which is also what the "i" means in Si. Those cars arent very fast but from memory a 95 cavalier wasnt fast either.

I Want Pics!!
LX had power windows, power door locks, air conditioning and a few other things
LXi added moonroof, alloy wheels etc
SEi added leather, premium wheels, etc etc

It all comes down to which car you like better. One is 7 years newer, but has a lesser value. If you like 3gen Hondas, or Hondas all together, i'd say go for it.
Honda baby, runs for ever, mine about to hit 200,000 and engine is butter but it is up to you which car you like better good luck
Get the accord. After a few more years the accord will still have a higher resale value than the Cavalier that probably wont be worth more than $1000 in a few years.
