Default Oil Porblem please help.

Ok little background first. I have a 1989 CRX HF with a 1990 D16A6 transplant. About a week ago i was driving home from work when i noticed a signifigant loss of power, i looked back in my rearview to see smoke coming out of the back of my car. I was to paniced at that point to really notice what color it was. So i pulled over. Everything seemed fine. I talked to the president of my car club, he said, it was the head gasket. So, the next day we ripped the engine apart and put in a new headgasket, as well as a new intaqke mani gasket, as the IMG was missing pieces and looked as though it had been shattered. So we got that fixed put it back together and everything was fine. I went to work (an hours drive away) and came home with no problem. However just as i was about to enter my drive way i noticed the oil light flicker on. Checked the oil, plenty of that stuff, and it wasnt milky or anything. So i thought, hmm maybe a faulty light, on my way to get it checked out, i noticed the light would appear only when i was not on the gas peddle. So i do believe that the oil pump is the problem and searched here to make sure, and it seems to coincide with everything, i just wanted to double check and see what you guys think. Sorry for the length but i wasnted to make surte you had all the details. Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm or disconfirm the problem.
