You can pick up a brand new bare jdm itr head from city-speed.com. They are only 579.00. I bought one for my ls/vtec setup and am running almost the exact same valvetrain, ect. The itr head was ported by honda from the factory. It flows better than the other b18/b16 heads, so it should make more power. Plus honda ported and polished it a little from the factory, and did so to specs than optimize airflow, ect. Since your upgrading everything in your valve train, you may as well buy a bare head or one with just the rockers, ect.
Also, ctr pistons will give you a rather high compression ratio, so buying a new head will help you out b/c you won't have to mill it any. If you buy one used you will need to mil it .10-.20 or so to ensure a good seal. This will increase your compression even more.

I would say buy another b series head (depending on IM setup) and have it ported with the money you save
<------looking for another head b/c I didnt make enough power with the ITR head and dont want to tear down a ITR head with 40K

the casting is the same but the ports on teh itr make the air flow more free.

omg.... Retard.
B16 and ITR heads are almost identical as far as i know. As people metioned a slight port job.
Some of the valvetrain components are slightly different as well..
Correct me if i'm wrong

No.. Get a B16 head and have it ported.
DONT USE SKUNK 2 SPRINGS, go with Crower or Ferrea.

Bert-O posted pics of the ITR head... and from what i know, i can tell you that the Factory 'Port-Polish' isn't really a port and polish at all. Porting refers to the opening up of the port to an enlarged size... and polishing is, well, polishing.
The only thing the factory did was clean up the short side radius and the bowl area around the back side of the valve; and from the looks of it, they only went up as much as necesary (about 3/4")
So... is it worth it? In MY opinion... no. But thats just me... i've been porting cylinder heads for about 5 years now, and i would never pay anyone to do my work.
I think you should buy a cheap b16 head... send it to PortFlow, and have them do one of the competition port jobs... you'll love it.

Itr's have blended seats and a mild bowl port... Different springs and Lma's...as welol as different intake valves. If you plan on any aftermarket porting then dont buy another itr head as it will be a waste of extra money..

he is correct!
As those pics I took and made a thread, it clearly shows what comes from factory is very minimal. As Tbone mention, only benifits being that you get a new head, new LMAs, new INT valves, ITR valvetrain. Basically all new rather than gettting a B16 that has a unknown history.
However, if you are planning on having port work, or run stiffer valvetrain, it would be idealy to just to purchase a used head.
Agian, its your decision and based on the info that was given here. You choose what you feel comfortable with.

totally agree, if you are going with an aftermarket valvetrain and/or an aftermarker port job it is not worth it, just save your money and get a b16...
