Well driving to work yesterday I had the cruise on, and I’m just moving along and all of a sudden the engine revs freely! I tap the brakes to take off the cruise and I grab the shifter and it is no longer in gear?! So I put it back in gear and continue on my way and it does it about 2 more times wile I’m on the highway. It did the same thing last night on the way home and this morning as well.
The biggest issue that I’m going to have is finding replacement parts for this tranny. I know that 1-3th gears are the same as the USDM 4th gen. h22 tranny. No problem there. But 4th and 5th gear is different for them at a ratio of 4th 1.034 (same as 5th gen. h22 tranny) and 5th is .787
Now it think that I can get all the Syncros except the 5th gear. Now I have done some digging and I found that the GSR tranny has a ratio of .787. I wonder if this would work? I would be willing to bet that it would.... But then again I have never taken one apart. The only thing that I can foresee is that they shaft bore on the syncros are different.
Now on to the shift forks. Now I would think that I would just need shift forks for a 4th gen. and I would be set?
And does anyone know if I can just order the syncros? And not the whole gearsets?
Any help would be appreacheted!
