Default Integra Brakes conversion, brake lines question:

I recently put integra steering knuckles on my 90 crx.
i was attaching the stock crx hosing with teh integra caliper and bolt, but the bolts hole wouldnt align completely with the hose.
does this have to line up? im sure its better, but does it have to?
also, which lines should i use?

and another question. this is all going in to what will be a b18a, but intil then ill be using a ZC mtoor and Si tranny/axles. will all that work together?

thanks,
Scott

If I were you I would but some stainless steel lines instead of using worn stock lines. But remember you will want to order them for the integra brakes. They are a little different and longer.

From what I understand its not the greatest idea to use the integra knuckles. Go here:
http://tjshondas.20m.com/xlfronts.htm

Then again I havent found anyone who did and said it really screwed things up....so how does your camber, caster and toe look? Does it look like your upper control arm will hit the underbody? I ask because Ive been looking for the damn ex knuckles for a while. I already have the integra fronts but once I saw this I figured Id wait.

Im pretty sure you have no problems with the axles in your current set-up but you will have to change them once you do the b18 swap.

I went with the Goodridge steel braided lines.

i put 90-93 integra knuckles on my 89 hatch std. I had it aligned at tire discounters and all they could fix is the toe. I have negative camber and castor problems. car is lowered around 1 1/4". So now im looking for ex knuckles also.

There was a guy on this site that had a few sets for sale. Let me see if I can remember his screen name.

I think the guy that you are looking for (that has EX spindles) is JohnathanEF. I got a set from him and he was real straight forward to deal with.

Keep in mind that any time that you get used spindles, it may be a good idea to replace the wheel bearings while it's all apart.

I put the EX spindles on my 89 and used the brake hose that came with them. I however had to "space" out the attachment at the shock so that there wasn't too much strain on the hose as it went to the caliper. I just used longer bolts and a bunch of washers. Not exactly pro looking, but it got the job done.

I wouldn't recommend that, I'm using my stock crx ones.

i think you're upper control arm isn't hitting because you're not lowered..

is that right?

Is anyone else having caster problems with the Integra knuckles?

I'm not worried about camber...but caster is a whole different ballgame.

That guy has got to be joking when he offered $350.

That's a reasonable price (considering shipping expenses) if the rotor, line, pads and caliper are included....but just for the knuckle? Dang. I can sell him two sets shipped for that price. lol.

EDIT:

How did your caster end up looking?

Do any of you guys with Integra knuckles feel like posting your alignment print out?

I know 85% of H-T guys definition of 'fine' in relation to alignment differs from mine since my car is a 100% street car [mostly highway driving] where as most of the cars here would be participating in Auto-X and other things such that they are looking for something a little different out of the alignment.

How much do a set of EX knuckles go for? I'm talking Knuckle/Hub, UCA, rotor, caliper...

Are we talking about replacing all four or just the front?

The rear uses trailing arms and the EX does not have rear discs...so that's no help.

You don't need the UCA for the front, the stock one is fine.

Also, most people don't want to pay for the rotor and caliper because they can usually find any Integra caliper/Rotor in their own junkyard and not have to pay me for them and the extra shipping cost.

I sell them for $160 shipped when I find them....but my junkyard just raised all their costs so that will go up to $175 shipped for the knuckles shipped. Some people don't like the price, that's fine. I'm not making a killer here and I could definitely do without the backbreaking labor in pulling them

I don't promise that I can always find a pair...but I've had pretty good luck up until now. I ask for the payment up front to cover my cost so I don't get shafted and it may take me a day, may take me a week or two. If at any time the customer wants the money back before I locate a set I'll gladly refund it.

El Vap, hopefully this isn't out of line. I'm in no way trying to promote my sales of these as I've got a job now and it's not as crucial for me to sell little side stuff like this to pay my miniscule bills. I'm just trying to provide the best answer I can to the questions asked. If this is out of line feel free to delete/mod
